I've been having some issues in dealing with check raises lately. Here is an example of what I mean:
1/2 NL Cash Game
Let's say I have J-J in pocket.
I raise to $8, 4x BB preflop from middle position, and get one caller from an original checker one position before me.
Flop comes 10-7-2 rainbow
He checks, I bet $14, he calls
Turn is Q
He checks
I can do one of two things here, check or bet. Lately It seems like if I check he'll catch the A he has been fishing for on the river, and then I'm screwed on a river bet. If I bet, he makes a significant check raise, because he hit his card.
This has been real hard for me to deal with lately. Kind of a catch 22! It's kind of a no win no matter which way I go. I realize this won't always happen, but seems to be a big mental block for me right now. It may not even be pp that I have, but I have top pair and suspect a guy is fishing, but he won't go away.
Looking for suggestions or thoughts as how to handle these type situations. Good or bad, bring on the comments!
