In fact, children betting money is not acceptable, parents have a responsibility to prevent their children from developing bad habits

Children should not be allowed to play poker because many countries prohibit children under 18+.

Can't quite make my mind up on this one!

It could be great for teaching mathematics, game theory, concentration, patience, decision-making etc.

On the other hand, while there's obvious free options, poker mostly exists for gambling purposes. With my sensible head on, I don't know if would be a great idea to lead a kid towards gambling. Not as a kid, I wouldn't want them gambling then, but for the future. Do we want to encourage our children to go on to be gamblers as adults?

Having said that I gamble sensibly, most of us do. It's not a problem for us. I actually did gamble as a child too. From around the age of 12 I'd bet on horses with my grandmother, watching them on tv and sending my dad out to the betting shop to place our bets. It's not done me any harm in terms having having problems with gambling.

I know some people came to poker from other card games like Magic: The Gathering. I don't know that game but assume there's at least some transferable skills and that you could learn some of the same types of lesson. Maybe that would be better for kids?

my opinion is that the ban will only worsen the situation, the children just need to communicate, or they can play mother’s daughter for money

While poker can be a fun and strategic game for adults, it's generally not recommended for children and teenagers. Gambling activities are often regulated to protect minors from potential harm. It's important to encourage age-appropriate games and activities that promote skill development and social interaction.

Well, this may be the other side of a worn-out coin but there are a lot of other things that kids can get into that are way more detrimental to a young mind besides poker... I mean when you think about it, right?
Human trafficking, selling/using Heroin, dogfighting, politics... the list goes on. I'll take kids playing cards any day. :)

Letting them play with monopoly money can be beneficial for developing critical thinking skills.

With play money, yes. And it would help them reach the allowed age to play with real money already knowing how the game goes.

I'm talking about children 16-17 years old, and not about little ones.

No, don't allow it. After all, there are age restrictions for playing poker for a reason. Adults are more experienced in this regard and do not succumb to temptation

It seems to me that children and teenagers should not be allowed to play poker, they have not yet fully formed nervous system, they do not need to chew too much, let them still study in schools and other educational institutions, and they will still play enough poker.

if children are under 18, they can't play poker, poker sites prohibit poker itself, only adults who have reached the age of majority can play poker, so we should also prohibit children under 18 from doing this if he is already 18 years old, let him play if he wants

Alright yes they have more rights.
We would call it "bedingt geschäftsfähig" .
But still too young for poker. I would however show teenager how the game works and I also see no problem when they are playing with Monopoly money. . Even at very young age when they are interested.

But never ever with real money

You can play anything for money. Even squats or push-ups. But now we are not talking about money, but about a card game.

Hi :)
In general, I believe that gambling is only for adults. But nevertheless, personally, I am generally more inclined to consider poker as a sport than as a game of chance. Therefore, depending on the situation, I think, in certain cases, teenagers can be allowed to play, but only in the game for conditional chips, not for money.

Personally, I see no problem with letting our children play and teaching them the rules of poker, just like any other card game or sport. There's no need to introduce the gambling aspect of the game until they are older.

Good for teaching math and stats skills. builds an intuitive nature for math skills for their future. Obviously don't let them get the gambling bug tho!
