Chip and a chair actually wins tournament

We have all heard the expression, All you need is a chip and a chair, and you don't really need the chair. But seeing it happen is something else entirely.

Well, last Sunday in my local live tournament, it actually happened. Blinds were 100/200, and a woman was down to a single 100 chip on her BB, with 9 players left. Three limpers and a pair got her back to 400, and she doubled up on the SB when she caught a straight. On the button, she went all in when she flopped bottom pair, and doubled up again when her other hole card paired on the flop. Now she was back to her starting stack, still playing all-in or fold, and got lucky a few more times (sucked me out and doubled up twice, then knocked me out on a third suckout) - and went on to win.

So it can happen. I seen it.

Ive done it 1 time in live tourney and 2x online freeroll. Not easy doing. But yes it can happen.

We railed Inscore while he came back from less than a bb at the final table to win a tournament at Full Tilt.

How many chips were in play? I'm guessing stacks were relatively short.

21 people had gone out, so stacks were not short.

I've done it and seen others do it.

Unless some one has been an A__, I will always chop a pot for this reason. I have been into many games where the short stack or chip and a chair comes back to win the game.

This is also the reason at the final table and in a large MTT with the final two tables, I will check it down with a short stack all in. I don't want to knock out another player that could beat the short stack, even tho I may lose this hand. It helps me contend with one less player (who can and does come back) as well as moves me up in the money.

Sometimes, if the short stack goes all in with a blind or two or three at the final table, you will see a number of large stacks just call and check it down to increase the chances the ss loses.

You can not verbally out loud agree to check it down.

That is a remarkable feat. What are the odds? Maybe 1 in 25,000?
