Chip Tricks

I have seen those guys on TV... do the one hand chip shuffle, and the sandwich action things they do... but I have not figured it out how they do it... I practice on my home games with my chips... and still don't have the skill to do it...

Anybody know how to get this done? or do you have any other cool tricks to share with us...

I can do like an air shuffle, shuffling a small stack of like 6 chips into a big stack of like 16 chips at the top. ive seen jen harman do it before

obv can do the normal shuffle too, up to 16 chips.

I learnt how to do most of the basic ones (shuffle, thump flips ect) by watching tutorial vids on youtube. Took me about an hour to get the basic shuffle down, then whenever i had my hands free id just shuffle the chips until i could do it without thinking.

The same guy has a full DVD of tricks which is well worth getting your hands on if you're into this sort of thing - I'm a big fan of his card trick tutorials too, nothing better for wowing drunks into silence when dealing corporate functions and pub gigs

I can shuffle, up to about 24 chips slopily and 16 like it's my job... and i can pull off the air shuffle (only w/ 4 or 5 chips though). Other than that, i'm pretty much a novice when it comes to chip tricks.

I never have enough chips to practice with.

Seriously though, I try that chip shuffle thing constantly and I just can't do it consistently. I sometiimes wonder if doing it on a soft felt table helps, because I'm just trying it on a hard desktop.

That's why I hope I never luck out and make a WPT final table or something ....... I'll be fumbling all over the table trying to shuffle my chips on natonal TV and look like a dork.


ETA: Hah! I just watched one of the vids mentioned above, and he said you need to be doing the chip shuffle on a soft surface.

Yeah, it makes a difference - you've kinda got to get a grip on the underside of the chips to start the shuffle.

A mouse mat usually works fine if you don't have a bona fide poker table handy.

I know how to make my chips disappear - sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly - is that considered a trick?

Anyway, I can do the chip shuffle fairy well. I watched a couple of online videos like others have said. When I try the shuffle, I make sure that I have two chip stacks with different colors - if I stack it correctly, then the every other chip should be of one color.

A couple of other things that might help:
- a soft(er) surface like a felted table
- starting with 4 chips (e.g., 2 blue, 2 red), then moving to 6, 8, 10, etc
- Clay composite chips work better than plastic chips (when I say plastic, I mean plastic chips with metal inserts that weigh about 11.5grams) since you get a better grip
