I like giving the gift of a card protector, especially if they play many live events. A real gold coin or maybe even a nice silver coin to help bring them luck. Provides them with a collectible and a piece of you.

Poker chip set, any good theory books such by Harrington or Sklankys or super system by Doyle Brunson, Every hand revealed by Gus Hansen is a good read - these are all good presents, also a good poker card guard - some suggestions anyway.

If you have enough money to pay for the entrance to the live tournament, then I think the emotions from the game in this tournament will be much more memorable than a poker set or a deck of cards or a book.

People suggesting a live touranment must be living in New Zealand or some other COVID free country. I wouldn't risk it at the moment.

Well , a buyin in a nc tourney would be sweet , but would be cooler if it was a live event in a casino somewhere. Wont have to be on birthday though cause usually thats packed with plans anyways.

I have a really nice set of chips and most people who have played with them really like them. Looks for a really nice or even a custom chip set.

Depends on your budget and their interests. Last christmas I bought myself (yeah, buying yourself gifts is what happens when you get older xD) some Copag playing cards and I still love them; they handle beautifully and last a long time; been about a year of use and they still look like new (box comes with one red deck and one blue).

I went with Copag, but KEM cards are also high quality I hear.

If they have cards/chips (or play online), then perhaps something computer related for their online poker sessions? Maybe a new computer chair, or if on more of a budget maybe a computer mouse pad?

There can be many options. It depends primarily on who your player, woman or man is. But in general, in my opinion, regular sports contribute the most to good results in poker. Therefore, I believe that a great gift can be, for example, an annual pass to the gym.
