Isn't it kinda obvious that there's a difference between saying that "the US government is a joke" and "your whole country sucks?"

It seems pretty obvious to me.

it's the united states foriegn policy that is a joke and the primary reason for the situation we are in. our political system is a well rounded system of checks and balances laid out by the constitution.

Agreed. The political structure is top notch. (with the exception of the electoral college) The political state, on the other hand, is a shambles.

So back to the topic, is a decision going to happen in the near future on online gambling in the US? When will it go to the courts again? And does anyone know if the new powers (president) to be are for or against online gambling??

Both future president elects are gamblers... Obama - Poker; McCain - Craps...What there stances are I don't know in regard to online gambling.

also intended to be marginally offensive. Both remarks are I'm sure directed at government policies and not at the people themselves. You can't say that a system of government that has existed successfully for 2021 years is "a joke" and not expect it's citizens, who freely elects its leaders, not to be at least a little offended. And you can't say that the first statement is less offensive just because it's fashionable at the moment to bash americans/america. Personally, I didn't find either statement all that interesting, insightfull or controversial.

Aloe and LD, you two need to get a grip. It's nice to be patriotic and stand up for your country, just as troyer was doing when he replied to monoxides little poke; but this kind of over emotional response is the kind of thing that makes me think Nick might be right about keeping politics out of CardsChat. This was a huge over reaction and if mods are brought into this I hope it's as clear to them as it is to me that, you two, not monoxide or troyer, are responsible for letting this get out of hand.

It's nice to be patriotic and protective of your country, but you can't get that uptight when somone else does the same. In the end, it's just friggin laundry.
