Highly doubt poker will "dry-up" anytime soon. It's a game about reading your opponent. Even if people get better all the time, there's always a challenge. Hard luck also comes into play which doesn't make it a fool proof game even if you consider yourself the best. And also, the sheer potential of winning money, whatever amount it may be, gets a lot of people excited. I just don't seeing poker going away... But that's a good thing :)

The correct format was "till I die"
:))

Cardschat has 67000 members who care enough about this game to follow an internet forum about it where you can read a ton of strategic information, hand analysis, ...

At least 99% of those members are fishes anyway.

I'm not worried.

Thread Should Have Ended With This Post From Belgo. LOL

I AM ONE OF THOSE FISH THOUGH lol:D:D:D:D

i think it will only dry up if most of the games become so difficult that they are nearly impossible to beat. even then there will probably just be a new or different game that comes up that most people have never played. with the amount of people that play i dont think this is very likely, at least not for a long long time.

When bots come to replace professional players, when there are no stories of living people, then the dream that everyone can win in poker, regardless of age, condition and level of education, will disappear. And without this dream - why would new players come to poker.

As far as there is constant flow of new players and the game is not fully solved poker will not dry up. Both events are unlikely to happen in near future. The variance that we sometimes curse is the main reason which keeps the game alive as it allows weak players to be winning in short run hence decide that they are good and continue playing. Yes today there are more and more very useful materials in internet which are easily accessible and generally average level of players constantly go up but there is still plenty of players who don't bother to learn anything and the professional level of knowledge still requires serious amount of efforts to be achieved so i don't think that poker will become pool of only sharks anytime soon.

With the advent of online poker, poker is unlikely to "dry up" per say. Yet, if anyone was playing in the early days of online poker, the experience was vastly different. Free money, juicy games, new sites everywhere, huge player pools, and just pure gambling. As a fish, I loved the action. But then I realised I had to "learn" poker. Not as fun but maybe more interesting - esp physcologically speaking.

That easy money got gobbled up pretty quickly but televised poker and big rewards kept the juggernaut rolling.

People tend to forget that live poker had its ups and downs in the US. At one time it was a normal recreational and social activity that was replaced by other activities as the middle class incomes increased. Popular poker took a huge dive.

Today, during Covid, a small online resurgence occurred but it was short lived. People just don't have the rec funds to loose any more, and even an average player today is somewhat of a shark compared to 20 years ago. 40 years of non-stop concentration of capital and power in ever fewer hands has squeezed working people's incomes across the middle spectrum. So I don't expect an upsurge any time soon. Or maybe ever again if we stay on the same economic trajectory.

But I suspect the rec player, maybe a bit more savvier than most of their predecessors, will be around as long as people like betting and waiting to see what the next turned card brings.

If anything was to resurrect the glory days, imho, it would be the re-emergence of USA players being allowed to play freely like most of the rest of the world. Don't see it happening anytime soon.

well im seeing a lot of my old poker buddies shifting fro poker to trading for example nd making a lot more money so as a way of making good money yes it is becoming a lot harder and more time consuming and any intelligent individual will quickly realize it is not as profitable as it once was and will only take it as a hobby for fun

To some extent I feel like poker has already dried up- in the olden days there used to be tons of sng volume and now it seems like you can reg for a 9 man and it never runs.

See a slow down, but not dry up. For a lot of people it is like buying a lottery ticket, someday you just might win big.

I think it will never dry out, there will always be people investing, not everyone will win so there will always be money in a bank supporting the sites or live tournaments.

Well that's my opinion
