Well, It is certainly not Hungary. You have to pay around 30% of your gambling (including poker) income in taxes.

I have been playing for 10 years and have never been complained to me from the tax service of Ukraine. Well, probably because I don't report my poker earnings to the IRS. If I made thousands, I would probably be forced to pay tax.

So far so good here in Canada at least for small amounts. And the decision with J Duhamel might keep the tax mans fingers off larger winnings as well.

Tax of up to 40% + fixed fee depending on the amount withdrawn... more precisely half of what you withdraw is tax

From what I know poker is not taxed in the UK. In Belarus, you need to pay 13% of the winnings.

Josh’s argument:

In his words, playing poker “does not give rise to any expectation of profit in the medium or long term.”

Speaking from experience, I certainly agree! 😀😀

Apparently the trick is to appear not to take it seriously - no studying, no bankroll management, no planning or systematic planning, no strategy. Just roll the dice and hope for the best.

In Austria, players' poker income is not taxed (taxes are paid by gambling operators). For this reason, many regulars from Germany apply for a residence permit in Austria (in Germany, the poker income tax is 0% for amateurs and 50% for professionals). A residence permit in Austria is issued under the program of financially independent persons (almost every developed country in the world has such a program).

the countries are partners of the player for profits but not for losses. Because if I win 100k and I have to pay 30% taxes to the state but if I lose 100k the state will not give me those 30% again, it feels like theft.
