Have you noticed that there are currently more people playing poker, whether in person or virtually. More online poker rooms have also been created, in addition to the fact that there are larger pots and more expensive tournaments and that more people play it than before. And what do you think about current poker?

I think it depends where you live, to me the amount of available online poker seems to shrink every day.

The amount small casinos in my area has also decreased dramatically.

We also lost lots of local card rooms in San Diego during covid ( and they aint comin back !) Its the same in Las Vegas . The big corporations will run huge rooms and keep upping the rake . Sadly there is almost no chance for small stakes players to come out ahead in live poker now .

I have been playing poker for about 5 years. Since the beginning of the pandemic, most online games, especially games like poker, are only gaining popularity. I think that online games are a very promising market niche, and such a business has very good prospects for the coming decades.

I think all this is happening due to the consequences of Covid19, people were locked at home and wanted to do at least something. This is where poker got its “second wind” - new rooms, big prize money, etc.

I think poker will continue to grow providing Governments don't restrict it under the guise of protecting us

I dont know if I would agree. It seams like there are less people playing and forget the casinos, most in my area don't even have tournaments now or if they do are for the big rollers and not the common folks.

This said I do agree its growing in the rest of the world is growing, just until we get regulated poker here I think the game will continue to shrink.

I also think the expansion of the cellular network and rise of smart phones has brought poker to many places in the world that previously did not have much computer ownership and internet service. Now, we have an App for that!

As I only play online at pokerstars, it seems to me that it has decreased, although I know that in some places online it has increased.

It depends on each country, in my case I see that poker is growing in all my territory, I see more publicity about it, I see that they are organizing more often tournaments in many parts of my regions, more players are entering to play, they are organizing tournaments for university students, this is excellent.

You are right, regulation is a major factor that discourages poker players.

I think poker is in a slight decline, hence the reason for the new variations to to make it more interesting and draw players in.

I think it's actually a bit stagnant. There's definitely opportunity for it to grow though!

I've been playing poker for about 6 years now, and to be honest, I think when I started there were actually more players than there are now. True, I started playing on PokerStars, and at that time it was probably the most popular poker site, so there were always a lot of players online.
