I don't know if I agree, I think poker has been played a lot all our lives.
Being 54 years old today, I have been playing since I was 11 years old.
In the best times for me, which was from 2000 to 2010, the deepening of the idea that poker is a mental sport, and the television installments, made it popular in other countries and that was very positive.
Before we had poker as the game in which they got together in a casino, with a cigarette in their mouths, whiskey and sometimes even a revolver on their waist and they were players like gangsters.
Today there is even the prospect of making a living from poker regularly.
Today the game is also very different, the mathematical possibilities, blockers, odds, etc. all inside to define a hand. Before they were not so like that, you only thought about whether or not a letter came to me.
Today it is a game of much study. Today for me it is played much more tactically. For example, at a table of 6 people according to the HUds, depending on your position, there are hands that go there, there are 3 bet, 4 bet, call hands, etc.
I think a lot of the magic of poker was lost, but the players who still have that magic are the ones who predominate in the game.
Greetings, good post:):):)

Have you noticed that there are currently more people playing poker, whether in person or virtually. More online poker rooms have also been created, in addition to the fact that there are larger pots and more expensive tournaments and that more people play it than before. And what do you think about current poker?
I've noticed it. Mostly in the brick & mortar communities. I see some new names/players online but not like I used to.
As far as the state of current poker? Too many chiefs... Everyone seems to know how to play, at least a little bit. Not really that many fishy players where it counts. Maybe I need to go to Dallas more often?

it is obvious that poker is developing and, if not for various kinds of restrictions, poker rooms would be much richer :)

There's definitely been a recent resurgence in the popularity of poker. wsop main event 2023 smashed all records.

I will actually have a video about this coming out on YouTube (state of poker 2023), in a few hours from now.

The current state of poker is very good. I think the level is much better than in past decades, because now we study much more with the errors we have today.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people turned to online entertainment due to restrictions on social interaction and the closure of offline casinos. online poker became one of the popular pastimes during this period. However, some offline casinos have been forced to close due to economic reasons or restrictions related to the pandemic.

Casinos may close for various reasons, such as economic difficulties, reduced demand for games, or government regulation. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some casinos were forced to close due to restrictions on social interaction and reduced demand for services.

As for the prospects of online poker, it continues to be a popular entertainment among gamblers. With the development of technology and the availability of online games, online poker may become even more common in the future. However, like any other business, online poker can face challenges and barriers in its development.

I agree that Poker Stars has lost players over the years. I used to play micros for a top prize of $1000 now all you get to win is a ticket to mid level game. lol

I think poker will last forever as long as humanity exists. After all, poker for many of us is not only an opportunity and a way of earning money, but also a way of life, an opportunity to escape from all kinds of everyday life and entertain ourselves. As long as money is spinning in this game, people will play it.

I haven't noticed that at all... in fact the exact opposite is true for me, there are less and less places I can play. Maybe if you live outside the US and you have only been playing a few years things look different for you😎👍
