Dealer mistake - WSOP video

How would you react to this guys??

Player is responsible for protecting cards at all time.

No card protector in place.
Player not touching cards.
Cards not close to rail.
Player looking in other direction (if she was watching she could have prevented this by grabbing dealers hand).

Of course the dealer made a huge mistake, but player should have prevented this. Nothing she can do other than take decision of floor boss.

The wsop needs TONS of dealers, and dealers from other casinos in Vegas aren't going to get time off from their regular dealing jobs to go deal at the Rio just for that month, so they try to bring in dealers from all over the place and sometimes have to throw very inexperienced dealers into high stakes games.

They've done better in recent years at least making sure dealers only deal games they actually know the rules to, I remember back in 2008 my friend was playing 25/50 PLO and the dealer had no idea what they were doing, would constantly forget they had to deal 4 cards per player, couldn't tell who had won the hand at the end, and so on.

If any of you go play the WSOP, be super careful about dealer mistakes or miscues and speak up for yourself if you see them do something wrong.

That being said, you need to protect your cards at all time. Even forgetting about dealer error, if another player mucks their cards and they land combined with your, your hand can be ruled dead as well. Especially when you are next to the dealer, and ESPECIALLY when you are all in.

Yes you are right,but if you receive a salary for work you must be focus on that what are you doing,probably that mistake cost him a job.

Maybe because it was on TV, but otherwise dealers make mistakes like this all the time and don't lose their jobs for it.

I know this dealer personally and he is one of the best in Vegas. She was not protecting her cards and that is a mistake by her.

Yea he messed up but in no way will it cost you your job, this guy still deals final tables at WSOP every year

when the dealer makes a mistake, it is difficult you back your concentration,
already it happened in a tournament that was taking part, but it was resolved quickly

It has gotten better. I have dealt there for 2 years and have seen some bad ones, but the majority is leaning towards better than average mostly because the WSOP is reaching out to areas like Michigan, Florida, and the other states that have a ton of local poker rooms now and recruiting good dealers to come out for the summer (like me). And Ill tell yea, if you go out there as a good dealer, you will come back a great one....but if you are one of the really bad - you may never recover because of the pressure, if you dont get fired that is.

A big struggle is now however, all of the other casinos now hire temp dealers during the same time because poker seems to puke all over the city during the WSOP. Planet Hollywood is now becoming the sheik place to work, and is drawing some of the good ones away. A good dealer can make a ton of money out there in those 2 months, I cant wait for my third year there.

BUT this guy in the video is a GREAT dealer who got a tad caught up in the moment...but the fact is, if freak lady didnt get up and look away this would have NEVER happened.

Stupid, stupid, stupid ... dealer should keep his hands off

Dealers shouldn't be allowed to touch a player's cards until the player indicates a fold or pushes their cards out to the dealer. You hard nosed responders need to have this happen to you so you can get a little empathy. If another player touches your cards you would have a fit so why not have a heart for the poor lady.

Wow, that sucks. Is that why people put trinkets on their cards? I always thought it was luck but maybe it's to stop this kind of thing from happening.

These trinkets you speak of are called CARD PROTECTORS for a reason.

And for comment above, the dealer thought she said fold.
