That's probably because you have a family and other family sized bills

. Also might have to do with your cost of living. Here in North Carolina, the cost of living is very affordable. If you were good with your money, I'd say a single person could get by making just $900/month. Average rent around here is about $550ish, factor in basic stuff like cell phone, car insurance, health insurance, groceries, gas, etc. and you've got it all covered. Of course I'm not saying one should even think about just getting by and living such a shitty lifestyle, but it's doable. A winning player at 50NL (beating it at 8bb/100 let's say) is making $16/hr (if he's playing roughly 400 hands/hour). That's $480/week and about $1900/month. That's way more than enough to live off of here, considering the above expenses. If you have a car payment/house payment/kids/wife though, you'd be better be crushing 5000knl imo.

Oh, slight brag, I'm beating 10nl for 25bb/100 this month so that means the girlfriend just MIGHT get a special Christmas dinner at McDonalds this year (dollar menu only, I'm not at Chuck or Zach's level quite yet). Merry Christmas, baby!

Well it's 8bb/100, not 8PTBB/100. So while it's definitely crushing 50NL, it's not at an impossible rate imo.

8 big blinds is $4. so that is 4ptbb/100 yes at 50nl? I think so. thats a solid winrate, nothing wrong with that at all, higher than my 1.5ptbb/100 this month.

If you get really good at 50NL 6max, 8 PTBB/100 is probably sustainable. I've seen some of the play there lately and its absolutely atrocious. Of course if you're beating 50NL for that rate theres no reason not to move up.
