I do the same thing as you and find that I almost always play better afterwards. I call them vacations though and not quitting.

Ive only just started playing again recently after 4 years of very much inactivity at the poker tables. I just grew board of game and the grind and went on to do other things like travel and socializing more out. But now back in love with the game and ready to grind a bit again during 2019.

I have been playing poker for 9 years. For all this time, I had one break, which lasted 3 months. This was due to my move to another city.

Sometimes my love for the game wanes a bit... I always end up coming back because I truly love playing cards, but sometimes a big loss can make me step away for a while.

I did not play poker the longest period somewhere 2 months, it was at the time when I left town for the village and there is no access to the Internet, but then I continued to play poker - but sometimes I take small breaks for about a week, I I think that players who like the game very much and who profit from the game will continue to play regardless of whether they win or lose or move to other cities and countries - they will then continue to play as they already have and the habit of playing the game is -developed!

I quit online for awhile because the federal government shut down the top two sites in the U.S- y'all know what I'm talking about. Then, when the govt took the sites' money, it gave it back to the players. Which meant that the govt was going after the sites and not the players. Which meant that under the Equal Protection Clause, which says that the govt has to treat all citizens equally, the govt could not really go after online players in the future, bc it had not only left those players alone, it actually recouped their money for them. At that point, I felt it was safe to play again online.

when i spent my entire paycheck in a video poker machine without winning anything, I quit poker. Just recently got back into it with online play but stick with micro stakes and freeroll tournaments for the most part.

There was a time when I almost got kicked out of poker at the University. So do not play for two years until the end of the study.

It was when I first started playing. I somehow managed to run a $10 no deposit bonus into $10,000 playing poker and black jack in about a 30 day period of non stop play.

I then proceeded to lose the $10,000 in a single day and quit poker/online gambling for about a year before returning.

Sometimes I have a lot of work to do,so just simply don’t have time to stay active or play poker. But even if I don’t have time to play tournaments, I try to be active in cardschat

Hi.
Sometimes I take a break to just relax from the game. Typically, such a break lasts 1-2 weeks, but no more than twice a year.
Good luck.

I quit poker when it isn't fun anymore. I mean why play if you don't enjoy it?

I've had times where I focus on other stuff for a while and put poker on the back burner. I always find my way back to the game and every absence seems to make me better.

Never quit poker, but have taken a break now and then. Played a weekend series that ran for about 3 months both Saturday and Sunday. They had about 3 of those a year. Couldn't wait for them to end to have my weekends back. Site ended up changing hands and played at times more convenient to the Euro crowd.

Really haven't played that much poker since then. Find other or newer hobbies to occupy your time.

Multiple bad outings

mackmasterss said:
the longest time I've been without playing poker is 1 year and it was because of my work:bike:
One day I lost my entire stack of chips on back to back pocket aces.
The next day, I lost my entire stack. I was holding a broadway on a rainbow flop and lost that hand to a guy with suited 2&7.
The third day, I lost my entire stack holding Aces full of Kings to a Quad 4. The flop/turn/river was AK4K4.

After that, I stayed away for solid six months.
