Difference between selling action and asking for stake

Hi all, I have been thinking about this, on 2+2 forum people sell their % of their action what does this mean? do they want people to buy them in? say they sell 75% and keep 15% DO they have to have that 15% in order to play? also what is mark up too as I am not sure about that also.

I am not 100% but I am pretty sure if someone buys lets say 50% of your action, you pay the other 50% and if you win anything they get 50% and you keep your 50%. Would be the same thing if 5 people went in all at 20% a person, if the player wins they each get 20% of winnings.

Aside from that, the general difference between staking and selling action is this:

With staking, you're asking for someone to put up your entire buyin for the game. So you're playing entirely on their money.

When you sell action, you're only asking someone to put up part of your buyin. So you might pay half the buyin yourself, and take money from five other people to fund the other half of the buyin.
