I agree to a point. Once negativity turns into tilt, it's hard to make good decisions. You can still win a session, but long-term success comes from staying calm and focused, not emotional.

If by negativity you mean tilt, then I agree. But if you mean negativity in general, then I don't necessarily agree. You can be the most negative person in the world and still play good poker.

Tilt is different because it directly affects your decision-making and can cause you to play poorly. Being negative doesn't automatically mean you'll make bad decisions at the table.

Your mindset doesn't change the cards, but it changes the decisions you make.

No i do not. U can think negative but it will not change cards on board or in your hand. It can change your decisions if u r weak mentally.

Fav quote

My favorite (life) quote - so I do agree with what Mike Matusow said here (that poker is a mindset and if you get negative, you can't win), considering how 'weird' the Mouth is behaving nowadays, on and off the poker tables, is rare to agree with him on anything

PS. That's also why I've worked a lot on my mental poker game in the past few years and why I keep recommending on our community The Mental Game of Poker 1&2 by Jared Tendler... IMO this is an aspect of the game overlooked by many (good) poker players and it has a direct effect on their success on both short and long term...

I agree with this statement 100%. If you get AA and are already thinking about how you're going to get run over, etc., you're definitely in the wrong business and have no business being in poker (at least until you work through this).

It's generally going to have a negative impact but people shove trash all the time and win hands, harder to play to the end of a tournament though with a negative mindset.

I do think so. You have to have a positive mind. To be able to move forward. Especially when they beat you with a horrible hand. Example in an All pair of A against 83 and on the flop it comes out 833. You can't get ahead with a negative mind.

Poker is purely about probability and patience.
