I don't drink when I play. I think you need concentration to play poker and keep your mind on the game. It would be counterproductive to drink alcohol.

I don't drink often, but when I do, it's like, "Yea, I'll have eight beers."
And from there I'm usually not interested in playing online poker.

Out at the casino, I may, from time to time, have a mixed drink, but definitely not more than one an hour and plenty of water.

I've heard it said that alcohol affects peoples ability to do math. I've never experienced this myself and in fact have solved differential equations while drunk just to prove the point to a friend, but if this axiom is true, then it would behoove those affected by such a condition to not drink when playing poker.

I used to drink a couple of beers while playing. It turned to my advantage as I was more loose and encouraged me to play with less favored hands. On the other hand it makes more diffiult to stay in focus for a long period.

Have you played poker muddy? does it make a difference?

The same thing happens to me, friend, when I get loose I play more and fearlessly, but it is not the same since your mind is not totally focused on the game and it is easy to lose the line of the game and make many mistakes.

it happened to me couple of times before , when i came late back home , drunk from a party at midnight and just sitdown and start playing some tables . To me it was fun and rewarding sessions , coz i felt more confident with my hands and thus more powerful to take huge decisions . The fun thing is you don't feel tilt at all when your mind is high .
But for a long session like 4hours and above it's just impossible.

Even the medical attitude to alcohol is different. It all depends on the dose, type and quality of alcohol. During the game, I do not drink.

A preciaded liquor with a nice texture on the palate. With sweet tannins and a formidable taste in the mouth, which lasts with the purity of its vanillas concentrated in oak barrels, for more than 5 years. Just a small 400 ml glass. :)

Sure it does. But we are talking about a couple of beers that make you only tispy. Being completely drunk can ruin your game very fast so if you want to make advantage of alcohol you have to handle it as a plan and watch the amount of drink you have - which can ruin the enjoyment and point of drinking  problem is that a poker tournament or even a SNG is way longer than having only a "few" beers.

i'm opposed to playing poker in a drunken condition ... it's ok 2-3 drinks as someone said before me, but I don't support exaggeration and I don't like playing with people like that :)

I don't drink a lot and I never do when playing online! but I must admit Iv had a few sometimes a lot at some of the local poker clubs! It never works out well. The big casinos know this that's why they come around and offer you free drinks they don't care if its 8am they want to loosen you up along with your wallet. Listen close if drinking beer or mixed drinks improved your game the casinos would never offer you free drinks! They put huge money into researching this perk!

The situation depends, if it is the weekend and at night, I can have a wine to relax even more, but normally I don't drink alcohol when I play poker.

alcohol and poker

I used to drink a little alcohol to relieve nervous tension. but when I realized that it was a vicious circle, and at the same time it had a very negative effect on the game, I stopped doing it. Negative negative outcomes of the game add up to alcohol consumption even more. because you don’t want to experience unpleasant sensations losing most tournaments and cash games. if you are already starting to lose, then you want to do it calmly, easily, without nerves. and for this you are even more attracted to alcohol. in general, I got involved with this and I advise you all to follow my example.:vollkomme:vollkomme:vollkomme

I love this question

This thread is great because I feel like poker and alcohol are always mixed together whether it’s a home game with your buddies or at the casino with the free drinks but honestly I feel as if the only reason anyone gives you excessive drinks is to make you play looser and lose more money I know the casinos do it and I know for a fact your friends do the same thing (;

I'll have 2 drinks max if I'm playing online, whereas live I don't really care. Action is so slow it's really hard to do something I normally wouldn't do. It also gives off a nice image of a guy having fun.
