There is an old Adage that says "You need to learn how to walk, before you can Run!" This perfectly applies to Bankroll Management, just because you do well in a single 25 Cent Game, does not mean you are going to play just as good in Higher Stakes. You are going to come up against better players the higher up the Stakes go. So don't be in a Rush to make Money! I have never! made a single deposit on any Poker Site, and I don't intend to, If I cannot play freerolls and win enough from them to start buying into real money games, then I am not interested. I have built up several over the years on different sites, my best being on PokerStars which at present stands at over $600.00 All won from playing Freerolls then using my winnings in Micro stake games until now I can comfortably play in $5.00 buy-ins. I don't play the higher stakes because making money from Poker was never my Intent, Sure I don't want to lose money, but if I can play any time I want then the $1.00 buy-in is fine by me. I have had days where I could not make the prize money in any game I tried, but I don't think automatically that the Game is "Rigged" against me, I accept that the fault lies with me and some days I am never at my best. So on days like that I give it a rest and come back with a little better Mind set and start to win again. There are plenty of books on the game by some really good players, and I would recommend Reading the chapters on Bankroll Strategy, as they can change from player to player, Doyle Brunson Had different strategies for different Formats and he recommends using the 1% rule for Single Table Games and 0.5% for Cash tables because the game never has an ending and players can come and go as they want. So before he sat down to a Cash Table He had to have 200 X the Big Blind before he considered playing at that table and that had to be less than 1% of the total of his Bankroll Balance. for him to play. I have stuck to the 1% rule all my Life and have never gone Broke at any time, On-line, I don't trust the Computer or Internet Connection so only play for the $1 Dollar buy-ins, not to make money but just to have a little harmless Fun playing a game I enjoy playing. In a Live Game however I still stick to the 1% Rule and if My Bankroll does not allow me to buy-in I simply walk away.
