Do you have problems managing your bankroll?

I open this topic to talk about bankroll management.

Whenever I make a deposit I end up losing everything on spin & go due to impulsiveness.

Where I start with 25¢ tournaments and as I win I risk a little more and go up to 1$, 2$ and go up.

When I decide to try
in the 5$ one, if I end up losing I make a new attempt, if I lose again, I try to recover now in the 10$ spin & go and in the end I end up losing my entire bank because of this impulsiveness.

Has this ever happened to you?

How do you manage your bankroll?

Personally, I think Bankroll Mgmt only applies to cash games, not tournament poker. Unless of course you are a compulsive gambler, then the rules don't apply. I only play tourneys and if my bank account says I have money to play, I am playing. Now I guess as I write this, if I have 100 bucks for gambling, I will spread that out to play as many games as possible, not just play one 100 dollar game. So to that extent, that's my bankroll mgmt.

It's hard to have problems with bankroll management with 0 in my account

I only play the cheapest tournaments and still fall to zero over and over again. I'm sure, GG eternally grateful to me.

Your idea of Bankroll management is wrong. It doesn't mean that if you have a bigger bankroll, you go up and play big $ games!
You say when you play the 1$ 2$ and win, rhen go to 5$ and lose. That is cause your poker isn't good enough for those 5$ opponents.
Study more, improve your game, then go higher. Not go higher just cause you won some bucks and your bankroll got bigger.

The same thing has happened to me many times, as advice I recommend you play longer tournaments and not spin and go, they have a system that leads you to addiction. The chance to win big prizes for so little money affects your head and you end up losing more than necessary. Anyway, if you want to play spin and go, what you can do is set daily limits, as well as a maximum to win and also a maximum of losses.

No, I dont have them, I usually just play very patiently, and if I lose, I just move on. I never ever play when im in tilt mode.

This has never happened to me because I only play with the money I managed to win in freerolls. I don't put my own money into the game. The money I won in freerolls, I won thanks to my own patience and skill, and therefore I spend my money very thoughtfully and carefully. You should probably just stop depositing money and play only with the money you manage to win in freerolls

Yes, it is very easy to try and chase losses. I dont think anyone is immune to this. Although I dont do it as often these days, but losing a couple of buy-in's at one level, to then move up a level to try recoup was a bad habit. I think as I age, I get more discipline, well that is the theory anyway lol.

I have difficulty managing my bankroll, when I win something I already enter another spin or tournament with a higher value and end up losing everything, and I am left in that cycle.

Bankroll management is more than just having "X amout of buyins for whatever level", though that is a good start.
If you're new or a poor player, more buyins are better to cushion the inevitable losses while you gain experience. If you're skilled for that level then you can do with less. What exactly that more or less is is entirely situational and up to you based on your assessment of your skill and game size/format.

It's also being honest with yourself and realistic about your skills and playing limits that you can beat on a consistent basis. Just because you won a few bux at the $2 sng's doesn't mean you're ready to jump to the $5 and $10 because the payouts are larger.

It's about not succumbing to degeneracy and firing your money into casino games or spins for a quick "easy" gain.

It's about having the patience and mental fortitude to study, reflect and improve your play and gain gradually instead of trying to just "win the monies".

Hello friend, it is the most difficult thing to do, managing the bank roll, this is the golden rule if you want to be a professional player. As in everything you start from the bottom, you have to learn to win at the low limits and go up, as advice if you are playing at 1 and 2 dollars at least to go up to 5 I would expect to have 250 in the bank to go up, if you master it Well at that level you can move on to the next. It is not that easy. I try to be disciplined about that, but the tilt sometimes is stronger than our reason. I made the big mistake to try to recover losses increasing the buy in, almost always with bad results. Now I try to stick to my bankroll plan strictly.
It's boring sometimes, but it worth it.

How do you manage your bankroll?

It's all about discipline, my friend. Where to acquire it? I don't know. Once you can look at a buy-in and tell yourself specifically how many more buy-ins you'll have after this session is the first indication of applying discipline to bankroll management. It's a small step but a step in the right direction none-the-less.
I think it took me about 8 months (5 times, lol) to start amassing a bankroll and keeping it. It starts w/the old saying, "don't bite off more than you can chew,". I think that's self-explanatory.
Play at a limit you're comfortable losing in. I know, that doesn't sound right but trust me, it's key.
If your bankroll is under $100 then I'd concentrate on freerolls and trny's $1.50 or less; sng's too. Triple that into $300 and move up ever-so-slightly to no more than $3 buy-ins.
If you're a "shot-taker" and can afford a decent trny, something like an $11 buy-in, for example the Boski which runs every day, if I'm not mistaken, and has a $10K GTD payout. Win it twice the 1st place gets doubled, I think? Something like that. Anyway, playing in one of these once a week or month isn't frowned upon.
I will say this, I think the game gets tougher each year. Good luck man.

Hello! Yes, I have a problem managing my bankroll: it consists of me winning some money somewhere, then going to a paid tournament (not very expensive) and trying to increase my cash this way, but it doesn't always work out well. I often lose and go back to freerolls. Variance doesn't tilt me anymore, but there is still some borderline state, I try not to think about it and constantly analyze my game. I know that in order to constantly play at a limit, say $2-5, you need to have a bankroll of $200-$250, but for now I continue to hope for a breakthrough.

I have had similar situations many times. It's called emotions. If you win, you want to win more, and if you lose, you want to win back. In order to become a good poker player, you need to learn to control your emotions. It’s not a matter of bankroll, it’s a matter of your internal state, learn to stop in time, no matter whether you lose or win, and everything will work out.
