Do you play better with smaller bankroll?

Just wondered? Myself if I start getting a a buffer (social player only) I start playing too loose and gamble more. I haven't deposited for years and take odds bits out.

I guess maybe withdrawing more would aid my game? Then again I guess moving up levels would do the same sadly I hate losing and moving up costs money if you get a bad run.

Same here. I'm always amazed when I see pot after pot falling into the hands of overly aggro players. There's a LOT of luck involved.

The occasional hand goes my way that shouldn't have, but not hand after hand. My bluffs only seem to succeed when it doesn't matter that much. But when the hand really matters, that's when I always seem to run into bad luck. That's why bankroll management is key.

Wow, I hate to admit but I have to agree. When my bankroll is healthy my decisional discipline seems to drop significantly but when my bankroll is on its final legs I naturally tighten up.

is a good question, because my best results were when my bankroll was tight, so I think when I have a decent bankroll it ends up playing less carefree and I end up playing bad

Whatever your bankroll you want to be playing within its limits. If you have readily available funds to redeposit then it doesn't matter but if not you want to follow basic bankroll guidelines. Just google bankroll guidlines for cash games, mtt's and sng's and you will find some good info.

Me too. I seem to play better with less. For years I have been trying to equal the two, but to avail. Best I have learned is don't play big stakes drunk.

So true. My only exception is larger stakes like $5/10, when I am nervous bout everything.'..'... Gotta find a common ground.

preferable to have an average amount of chips to play comfortable, although I read in some books that I like much more than selective with your cards and you play with speculative cards, as well as with SHORTSTACK teaches you to play better:top:

I don't think having a small bankroll helps at all. With a larger bankroll you can play more and thus then win more. You can also loosen up your game a bit because losing isn't as big a deal. Like you said you can also lose more with a larger bankroll but you gotta play to win!

With a big bankroll, you get careless, when it grows smaller, you focus better and stay concentrated.

Wow, weird. I always play better with a fat-ish bankroll. After any witdraws, if I look at my br and it's half of what I had I feel unneeded pressure and it's unhealthy towards my game. (When I make a withdraw, it's always 50%)

I 100% see what you're getting at, but I'd argue if that's your experience, then what you need to do is improve your mental discipline at the table, not reduce your bankroll relative to the stakes you're playing.

Bankroll management is a tried and true method for ensuring you can ride out the variance that you'll naturally encounter (no matter how good of a player you are) when playing poker over the long term.

Compromising your bankroll management because you think it'll make you play better would be pretty dangerous, DUCY?

Personally for me a real game starts when you have more than 50bb. You can make much more tactic moves with a big stack, but you have to be very disciplined. In case with a short stack you have only two options - push or fold.

I recently thought that my game is much better if my stack / bankroll is getting too small. I do not know what this is connected with. But the less money, the more collected I play. Can always play like that? To build for themselves such a strategy of the game, the conditions of the game?

I play better with wide bankroll, because I like to see the big volume of times I need to get out minimum of the bankroll to achieve my goal with fewer strokes.
