I play to make money, but I also enjoy playing the game very much, I don't feel at ease if too much time goes by without playing a session of hold'em.

I don't play to get rich. I think that would take most of the fun out of it.

I think a healthier, and more realistic, goal is to make a living playing poker. Not extravagant but enough to pay everyday bills. If I could play 50% of the time and do that would be awesome.

I do like that poker keeps my brain active and it's something I can improve on. And there is a 'scorecard' where I can actually see results i.e. building bankroll, moving up in stakes, etc. I like that aspect, too.

Hi! When I first started playing poker, my goal was to share my boyfriend's interests. Later I became interested in poker , I became really interested. At the moment, for me, poker is an outlet, a distraction from problems. Yes, of course I always want to get rich from poker, but there are other reasons why I play it. And if I got rich, I'd play, too.

I mostly play for fun, but would like to see my bankroll grow a little faster or at least not go backwards. If i were a millionaire, i'd still play for the thrill.

Bad beats are everywhere. I don't recommend the zoom format, its designed to make you lose as fast as you can. Try a different format. Ring or double or nothing sit and go. That one is easy to win.

Unfortunately, I rate myself a beginner who is not winning.

I've come to accept that I play for money. I have a huge amount of respect for grinders, I'm quite fascinated by players who can make a living, or at least a good side income practicing not only good poker skill but good calculated financial management of their poker finances.

I do love the game, love the complexity, love the challenge, and love the social aspect. But I'd be lying if I said money wasn't the big reason to play.

Then again I've played for years for various reasons, it's only more recently I'm realizing the money aspect as a reason to further love the game.

I don't think I could ever play poker professionally unless I had a massive bankroll. Even then, I'd be tempted to cashout as soon as I got my student loans paid for.

Poker winnings seem so fleeting and temporary that it would make me incredibly anxious to live off. I do believe as long as you're following proper bankroll management it can be a stable career. Just not for me :wink:

It's very comfortable to work at home even if you haven't your own business. And also you can do your business while traveling in other countries. For example, Kondrashov tells in his article how to work and relax at the same time.

If you play poker just to get rich I wouldn't hold my breath.
It's a long hard slog to get to professional player status and I have been playing for years and I am still mediocre at best.
Poker is a game I enjoy, yes I have won money even a couple of trophies but at the end of the day I play for the fun of it.
Once it becomes your day job it is a job like any other.
