I prefer tournaments. I found cash games too slow in terms of action as most players tend to be tight. Most just sit and wait on monsters.

Cash is like deep in tournament. I prefer cash when i feel tight aggressive and tournaments when I want to make fancy moves, to take gambling shots etc. Nevertheless, I enjoy tournaments after bubble.

In general lines I prefer cash for making money (because there is always a better spot) but I love the tournament's pressure.

I can't really understand why i am so bad at cashgames compared to Tournaments. I can beat NL10 but then i will die of boredom sooner or later.
And sooner or later i just tilt and lose, so well i can't win but i am able well... lol

Tournaments is great for me. THe latest weeks i have been winning like 700dollar on tournaments and then i mostly play at weekends, i will NEVER win that much on CG, and if i would be able to i would need to go up or grind NL10 like for years or atleast some damn long time. And the cost to learn to beat the higher limits before i can crush them and cash out from them is not worth it, if i am able to do it at all...

I love tournaments and hope i never get tired of them, because when i do i have to quit playing poker.

LIke this weekend, i played HU and NL10 and lost pretty much, more than i have done for a long while, and now i played a tournament and won 123dollars, just like that!!

And i have been through a downswing in my tournamentplay.. it was damn hard to keep play but i managed to cut the loses.

SO TOURNAMENTS IS FOR PEOPLE WITH HEART!! u have to be kind of nuts to like CG.
Look at Hellmuth, he is a nice crazy dude.
ANd look at Phil Ivey, he is just sooo boring.

I recognize myself very hard in your post. I hardly ever play cash games anymore, 'cause I don't seem to be succesful at them. I must say, when I played cash, it was with micro blinds. I have to be strict with my bankroll and I can use the money I win from MTT's. What's also a fact, is that I played and studied more MTT's then Cash, so maybe there's a factor in winning way more in the MTT's. And I must say ... I like the Mtt's so much. All the dynamics as the tournament goes further on ... love it! Just love it. And the last 2 years I got my best successes in the knock-out tournaments. I think before I played a little too tight and the KO's force me to think better about when to play more aggressive. It helped my game overall.

But I wish I had more skill in Cash games. Mostly I found it boring and seem to make mistakes. Maybe I have to study them more.

I just play tournament because it is more fun and seems to be more a sport than a cashgame that seems to me just like gambling [my opinion of course].

Some of the most fun games for me online are one table sit-and-gos.

Tournaments are more interesting because they have a more logic course to go and the more you grow your stack and earn the interest grows.

My brothaaaaa! Tournament play all the way! Cash game play can be a nicely reliable way to turn a profit--IF you can stand the boredom. I just can't, and tournaments are so much more exciting! Plus there's the attraction of a big hit. But I don't think MTTs alone are suitable for grinding up a bankroll, so I tend to gravitate toward the middle ground of single table Sit 'N Gos for that purpose.

I'm with this guy, cash games are boring and I almost never play them.
There is just something fun about watching the players dwindle down until you are in the money.
Also it's a nice feeling to work towards - being the last person standing or making it to the final table within a large field.
Winning money is great but winning money and being 1st / 3,000 is even better.

Tournaments are not like gambling imo while cash games are. In tournaments, you put in a fixed price so you really can't lose that much as you can with cash games and cash games seem wayyy too fleeting

Tournaments are cool when you have a lot of free time.
Cash games are for those who can be distracted and leave the game any time.
