Do you study ranges or go by feel?

I'm curious, to a large extent others are disciplined with preflop charts.

Studying charts are important because it’s going to help you know what hands are more profitable than others in any given situation. The situations being position, stack sizes, number of opponents. Making mistakes preflop means compounding mistakes post flop. Mistakes lead to losses.
Learning charts and how to play post flop will help with your feel for the game, so will experience. So both are important to improve your game.

Those who rely on their gut feel are the players we should all be grateful to. Without such players, poker would hardly be a profitable business. The more of them we have, the better for all of us.

I rely on my own skills, my experience, my knowledge. I rely on my feelings only when I feel bad. If I feel bad, this feeling tells me that this day is not for poker

I study ranges to build a solid foundation, but I also trust my instincts when the situation doesn’t fit the chart. Best results come from using both.
