Most of the time I don't talk, but on rare occasions I end up talking, this makes the game more relaxed

I like to talk on the table about other topics or other things. I feel like staying quiet and not talking about certain things for hours can get boring

:) I don't pay attention so much to the chat box and rarely use it. I stay quiet, because I don' like talking to myself. A few times I have a 'Geez' or 'Dang It' come out of me when I lost a good hand. I forget it and play the next hand. For me it's just a game for fun entertainment. :D

I'm quiet and I say very rarely couple words. There are some players that talk to much.

I’m usually more of a focused player, but I do enjoy a little table talk — especially when it’s light, friendly, and keeps the atmosphere fun. A good conversation can make long sessions a lot more enjoyable and help read the table’s energy.

That said, when I’m deep in a hand or facing a tough decision, I like to zone in completely. Silence helps me think clearly and control my breathing and timing. So for me, it’s about balance: chat when the cards are dead, focus when the chips are in play.

If there are nice people why not talk to them and have a good time without being distracted from the game.

That's a great question, LiviuRo123. I tend to agree with you, a little table talk makes the game way more fun and breaks the tension of a long session. I usually prefer a balance: friendly chatting during small pots, but full focus when a big decision is on the line.

I actually think it’s a professional obligation to keep the atmosphere pleasant. If a pro is silent and intimidating, it makes the game less fun for everyone else, which is bad for the ecosystem of poker. A friendly pro encourages recreational players to stick around, and that's ultimately good for everyone's long-term win rate.

So, while I appreciate the full focus during critical moments, I believe good friendly table talk is an essential part of poker, especially for keeping the game healthy and fun for new players. Do you find that different stakes or types of tournaments change how much people are willing to chat?

Some players love chatting cracking jokes, reading reactions, and keeping the vibe light. Others prefer total silence, locked in and focused like a sniper.
Talking can reveal information… but it can also get information. A well-timed question might expose a nervous bluff or relax your opponent into a mistake. On the other hand, silence can make you unreadable a true mystery at the felt.
In the end, it’s all about your style. Some win with words, others with calm. Both can be powerful when used right.

Not much online, prefer to concentrate on the game. Played a couple of times live and the table was quite dead, nobody talking.

Depends on the context. I'm more quiet, but I'm also an introvert. Homegames, I'm more chatty. It's partly about trying to stay focused and win, but also partly about the environment. You don't want a casual homegame to be made too serious when they can't read tells anyway.

A chat here or there, for the most part, sit tight, be quite, and play your game

In the right hands, it can become an effective tool for gaining information that will help you make the right decision.Only a small percentage of players can use gossip effectively. And it has a downside: if you don't know how to manipulate your opponents and can't keep your mouth shut, you can easily give yourself away. And weak players are precisely those who should be exploited first and foremost through poker chatter.
