I'm proof of that, because when I started playing I never stopped playing, it's very addictive even more when you want to win some money and then it gets worse.

Yes, of course, especially in emotional and gambling people. This is due to a surge of hormones during the game.

I could name several characteristics of an addict, but I think there are interesting articles talking about this already.

For me, the main point of addiction is when the person realizes that the activity is bad for him, to the point of having more disadvantages than advantages and even with the desire to stop, he can't. As if something was always driving him to the game. (mixture of a biological and a psychological side).

Anything which gives you a 'high' can be addictive.

Very

Yes, poker can be addictive,
because of the release of endorphins when you win

The thrill of winning a big pot reinforces the desire to play,
and the elation of winning even a small tourney does so even more

Anything a person finds pleasurable can become an addiction

And winning money, even in small amounts, is a powerful motivator
to continue attempts to win

So, you can imagine the elation of placing
or even winning a big money tourney

These two factors are why individuals so easily become gambling addicts

Besides, poker is great pass-time entertainment,
so, it can easily become addictive

There are addictions that are good and some that are harmful. The main thing is to draw the right conclusions, and get rid of harmful addictions.

Poker, like many other things, can be addictive, but the inability to play reduces the addiction and desire to play.

I used to be told that I was addicted because I played poker for more than 8 hours a day. But I didn't find this applicable and tried to explain that if you're playing in one or two tournaments, you can easily be playing for a lot more than 8 hours. How long you play is no proof that you are addicted. But if you have the feeling that poker is becoming a compulsion or you are no longer in control, then you should perhaps ask yourself whether you might be addicted.

I can also play poker all day, but only if I have free time and don't have other important things to do. I think that poker can cause addiction only in emotionally unstable and undisciplined people with a lack of basic patience. In my opinion, any addiction arises primarily because of irresponsibility and lack of discipline.
