Do you think some people are born with a gift for playing poker, like in other sports

I think people who are more rational and/or have more abilities in math have an advantadge in poker.

I have for many years advocated that anyone with an analytical mind, strategy based or mathematical role definitely has an edge over the average player, there has been studies on this and the fact that we have an increasing number of players who come from a chess background also adds weight to this claim.

I don't think there is a gift for "playing poker" ...
It's just that patient people with a mathematical mindset will find poker much easier than those who have problems with mathematics :)
Perhaps it all depends on the predispositions (as in many sports), but you still need to be able to implement it.

I believe math skills are key. There are so many odds to consider, that change rapidly during play. Experience adds to the skill level.

I've been thinking recently about the large number of players that have emerged in recent years, and how good they are. I know this is because of the great boom of online poker, the quick lit information, anyway, things we all know, however, I was curious if you guys believe that there are people who are born with this supernatural talent.
I believe not, that learning comes with many years of study, but some say that in addition to the study, there are people who really seem to have been born for poker.
What's your opinion?
I think that there are probably people who are already born for poker, but you can't do without education and training in this business! There are people who just learn everything on the fly and have a good memory, so poker is easy for them! But I think you can achieve great success in poker with your hard work and hard work on the game, it all depends on how motivated you are, and everything depends only on you! I wish everyone to reach great heights in poker, be kinder and more positive! Good luck to everyone at the tables!

Most ordinary people, if interviewed, will probably say that poker is a game of luck. And they should not be blamed for this. After all, poker is played in casinos, along with other gambling games such as blackjack, roulette and slot machines. No one will ever tell you that poker is easy. In fact, this is one of the most difficult games in the world, which is far beyond the teeth of a few. That is why only about 5% of players win in poker.
And that's exactly how it should be.
In poker, someone always has to lose so that you can win. And all these people are losing just because they don't understand the true nature of this game.
And the fact remains that poker in the long term is a game of skill, not luck. And the top players who win year after year are a vivid confirmation of this.

When i started to play Poker (16 years ago) I heard to say Poker rewards the aggressivity, some people are more aggressive than others and to Poker this is one of the gifts needed to play well!

Poker is 75% or 80% luck, after all. You have talent if you avoid 3 outers or 2 outers every time.

I think somewhere Dan Coleman said that a lot of times he got into a pot without math he just had a feeling I’m not saying it’s not important it just can’t be played all the time

Don't get me wrong, gut feelings certainly have a place in poker too. But without the core understandings of odds they won't get you too far on their own, unless you have ESP ( extra sensory perception)

After 10+ years of playing the game IMO you can definitely work your way to be a decent poker player and win money from it but for sure some people are having it 'easier' and it's because of what you said: a gift/ talent that other people can't really aquire even with a lot of work... Also, it just seems to me that most top players make the 'right play' most of the time and that's why IMO on the long term, poker is a game of skill and not luck...

No, this is not a talent. Everyone can play poker. Only a few can make a profit.

hello

Yes, it may be possible that in many cases luck helps them, but the basis is to study, like any career and if we talk about sports, stay in shape!

One way or another, no one is born in a shirt, just as probably there can be no one born with a gift for playing poker.

I think that some people are born with what it takes to be a world class poker player.

I would like to draw a parallel here and mention Gari Kasparov, I'm sure many of you will agree, the best chess player ever.

At 21, he was the youngest player to play a World Cup match. Opposite him was Anatoly Karpov. Both at that time far surpassed all other world chess players. This is the longest match in the history of chess. After 5 months and 48 games, the match was abandoned with Karpov leading 5 wins to 3 (with 40 draws). Imagine how strong you have to be in your head for such an undertaking. How calm and collected, and disciplined you need to be.

The match have been replayed after 6 months. Again it was a tight match, the final result of the match was 13:11. Kasparov won and became the youngest world chamion in history.

I think people like Kasparov are gifted with an incredible ability of discipline, concetration and mental strength and that is what you need to have to be the best in the world, not just in chess, but in other fields too.

Same is with poker. I don't think the best poker players are "normal" guys/girls you can find next door.

But on the other hand, I am also believer that hard work and dedication can take you far.

Hello!:ciao:
I think you're wrong when comparing this to poker. People have a different mindset. There are left and right hemispheres of the brain, and some have one more developed, others have another, there are people who have it in balance. For example, there are people who are more gifted creatively. There are people who are more suitable for exact sciences and analytical activities. I think people with an analytical mindset are more successful at poker. But this is my opinion, and I'm not trying to prove anything. In my opinion, there are no people born to play poker - there are people who are able to very easily understand the mathematics of this game as 2×2. At the same time, I also believe that a person's temperament is an important factor. I think this also plays a role.

i think that certain people are born witht the skills to play poker at a very high level, while on the other hand other people need to study and learn the skills... however i believe that anybody can become a great poker player if they put in the time and learn the ins and outs of the game.... the object of poker is to get your money in when your percentage of winning is highest over and over again. odds never lie so if you continually get your money in good you are going to continue to turn a profit.

Is it or isn’t it….

I believe that you are either very competitive or not really. You definitely have to be lucky to have success playing poker… I don’t think you are born with the skills or luck. Are you born to be an amazing dart player? Probably not…. Like poker…It takes practice and lots of patience.

Natural Aptitude

People do have natural abilities
that can favor them in the game of poker

If these abilities are combined with proper training and practice,
it will usually result in a talented player
who rises through the ranks to the top
