I usually play tourneys. And I cash most of the time so I tip well but all the dealers get an even split no matter if they were good or not.

Yes I do tip I believe in the karma behind it, somewhere and some how I do believe it comes back in a greater form. So Tipping is of great value not only in poker but life as well. Here is a Tip for all Patience is success in the poker game.

I try to always tip. I play 1-2 so the pots aren't gigantic, but if I win more than I put in to the pot I will tip a dollar. If I win a large pot I will usually toss the dealer 5 or 6 bucks. On the flip side of things if I am down and win a pot but the pot does not bring me back into a profit I will not tip. I will tell the dealer that I am not forgetting to tip, and then I promise to tip once I turn a profit. If the dealer is still at the table on the hand I turn a profit on I tip my standard tip. After the dealer gets the tip and thanks me for it I reach in and toss the dealer one more chip. As I toss it I say for the tip I promised you.

When I go to the cage I tip them too, and just like Riderfan I like to cash out in large bill amounts. I rack my chips and whatever is left over after an amount under $5 is what they get. That way I am getting bills of $5 denomination or larger. I guess that means I tip the cage anywhere from $1 to $4 dollars. If I cashed an amount that doesn't have any one dollar bills coming back to me I will tip the cage $5 if I cashed $105 or more.

I tip because I feel as though I morally should tip. I do not like to tip but I do it. This is one of the reasons I usually choose to play cash games online.

$1 or $2 a winning pot is what I do. by the time they rake it, not much left to tip with.

I do tip once in a while, when I win, but not always.

It depends if the dealer is a nice guy or is entertaining, but if makes a mistake = No tip at all. :deal:

always tip and be nice to the dealer. IT's the right thing to do, and it will benefit you in case there is a dispute.

I tip $1 if the pot is under $20. I tip $2 if it's from $21- $200. And $5 if I win an all in pot that's higher than $200

I was just referring to tipping dealers. I do tip the cage at the start of my sessions as the casino I play at has a cage in the poker room so players must get their own chips when they first sit down. The amount varies but is usually $5-$25 depending on how well I did the last time I got chips from that cage person. I also tip chip runners when I need to reload.

Tipping

I use to tip when I played live every hand I won. But one day I did the math and I was giving way to much money away. I now tip the dealer when I leave the table, if they made the table an enjoyable table. Some dealers have no personality and are like robots.

There are still the occasions when I win a bit pot that I will roll a few chips to the dealer. But for the most part, all my tipping is done at the end of my session.

What many players fail to recognize is that dealers are in the business of dealing poker primarily because tipping, whatever the amount may be is customary. Tipping accounts for more than 90% of their income, and tipping something when you win a pot or a tournament, is the norm. If you choose to tip, great, the dealers and staff appreciate it, and inturn generally try to accomodate you in any way possible. I can verify that players that are "known tippers" in the poker room I routinely visit find that they are taken care of (i.e. comps, room rates, holding seats for a player, being dealt in when they step away from the table for a moment, etc.)As an added incentive, many players who happen to befriend the dealers, can go them between tables and ask for a scouting report.

90%? I have a Hard Rock casino about 5 miles away. The food servers there are paid less than $5/HR, and receive tips. I always tip servers because they are paid less and they really do depend on tips. Tipping those who make $3.50 an hour should be mandatory unless they are a really really bad one.

However, the dealers are paid a normal to premium wage and don't work nearly as hard as servers do. I know that to be fact at this casino, but they may be paid less (like severs) in other establishments; I fully admit to being ignorant to anything outside my little world

. They actually have it pretty cushy (IMHO) and I never feel obligated to tip a dealer, although I have and will, but just not very often.

If a dealer is only making a server's wage of less than $5/HR and tips were 90% of their income, I would feel obligated to tip, win or lose.

When im playing live and im up quite a considerable amount i do tip the dealer. Just think its good etiquette.However when im on a bad run and seem to be struggling in a live session i wont normally tip.

yes but not all the time. It really takes away from my winning edge because i play low stakes generally speaking.
