No, I never show cards. Let the opponent be ignorant of the strength of my hand. A greater advantage would be in a bet with a hidden strong card combination.

Hell I personally don´t. Usually people show cards for a purpose. Not just for fun or something.

Hi everyone.

Do you usually show the cards before returning them to the deck? I have read that sometimes it can be a good strategy to put rivals on tilt ...

Leave your comment here with the reasons why you do it (or not).

I do not usually do it because for me it is free information for others ....

Also, regarding the first sentence, it seems disrespectful to others, but hey, don't forget that you are reading a rookie's opinion.

Thank you very much for your attention.

Best regards from Buenos Aires.

Thanks for the post, I think this is an interesting question and I'm sure there are multiple answers.

Personally I almost never show, but there is one exception I'll make and it happened in a home game just the other day. I'd won a few pots in a short space of time and the guys were saying, "he's just bluffing every hand!", some I had, some I hadn't...anyway...few hands later, I picked up 88, I 3-bet the opening raiser and they called. I hit my set on the flop he bet, I raised. Turn was a brick. He checked and I bet just over the pot, which put him all in. Everyone was saying I was at it again. He folded and I showed my set.

Now, some people would say, I might have done him a favour, by showing him he made the right fold, but to me, that is more than compensated by showing the WHOLE TABLE, that their perception of me was off.

They never said I was bluffing again that night, even though I bluffed maybe half a dozen other hands.

I believe that you never need to show the cards to your opponent, no matter how much you would like, this is always information to your opponent that always plays against you

sometimes depending on the stage of the tournament, if such a strategy. You can show your cards to mislead your opponent. showing him that your game is adequate. But aggressive, only on nuts

At a real poker table, I will sometimes show my cards if it helps my table image. But usually only if I think I have the best hand at a show down. I do have one interesting anecdote though:
I flopped a open ended straight draw, bet all three streets and didn't catch, had one guy calling me down the whole way. After he called my river bet, I flipped up my cards and said "busted straight draw" All he heard was 'straight' and mucked his cards before he really looked at the my cards. I took the pot because he mucked... he was pissed. the whole table was surprised as hell. I've always thought about using that as a tactic in the future... Just calling a board that I didn't have to see if my opponent would muck, but I've never had the balls to do it. I would need persuasion 100.
Online I never show my cards, for two reasons. One, it slows down the game if you have the option enabled. And two, nobody really takes notice of your table image online - at least not at the stakes I play.

I never show my cards. Why would you give your opponents information that they could possibly use against you later on in the game ?

I never show my cards because I don't want to give information to my opponents and I find it helps me not to satisfy their curiosity.

Usually no, but when I want to make a trap to someone like a fish, I show my cards and bluff sometimes to invite to pay me. I don´t show often but sometimes is important to do for me.

Many players use this information about me, to try to get my chips, but depend in how you move your cards in the correct stage. Good luck in the tables !!!

I try never to show a hand. only special occasions, when they beat me despite having played well. I show cards to show the opponent that Bluf was not there and that he really had a good game.

I never show your cards. What's the point? Why, someone annoy, or trick? I play on my card, and not wonder how someone plays. And why should disclose the scope of its games?
