I confess that on my sim, my wife broke her femur and I have to stop all the time to help her with something and when I go back to the game I feel a little lost.

I think it's not just illness in the family that can be annoying when you play poker. Even if you simply live with friends or family and there are people who always need something from you then I think this can also have an effect on the game after all, you only have one brain and that you can then distracted and not be able to fully concentrate on the game is normal, I think. But it's just a game and then you have to think about what is more important to you a sick woman who needs help right now or a game. I wish your wife that she gets well again quickly and I wish you a lot of patience and strength that you remain patient and will soon be able to play poker normally again in peace and quiet. But now your wife is more important than poker and maybe just take a short break for her sake when you notice that she needs you a little more now than usual

Personally, the smallest details distract me from playing poker, especially when loved ones and all thoughts about them get sick. Therefore, I prefer to play in complete silence and in a calm environment for this.

Well, it seems to be absolutely normal for a moral person to put their loved ones first and not poker)

Family comes first, I've been inactive, because my grandchildren are on vacation from school, that's why I haven't played poker.

I feel for your wife, I hope she recovers soon, for sure if something similar happened to my wife, I would drop everything to help her.
First the health of my family, then the fun, I wish your wife the best, and have a great weekend.:)(y)

Totally agree.. Recently I qualified for the WCOOP Main Event (Low), got barely home from work on day 2 and busted because my girlfriend just couldn't leave me alone with uneccesary questions I already answered before.. But she agreed to let me play this (for me) big tourney.
I totally understand poker players living together now. They know what's at stake

I think you should think more about improving your playing style, studying a little more while taking care of your partner, of course, without playing, try it for a few days, think that you're doing well, and since you're doing it, you'll see that later, no matter the distraction, you'll just reconnect to the action. Something similar happened to me, and then just meditate, plan strategies and believe me, the results come on their own, and something very important that you have to understand is that you have to have fun, have fun, laugh while you play and you'll see that the good results come on their own at the least expected moment but when they arrive they come. Luck

It is your wife and you have to help her, it is normal to lose concentration when you are not focused only on the game. Maybe you should stop during your wife's recovery. I hope you get better soon 😁

I think that anything that can affect your mental health can interfere in your results in a poker game. I usually avoid playing when I'm not 100%.

I think that anything that will have an impact on your focus will be in someway between u and poker. I past through these things by slowing down, wait for the right moments for playing, and even playing less tables than I use to.

Absolutely yes, I know you are experienced in the game and you must know that mental state is extremely important to perform the basics of the game.

And your concern for your wife is natural, and even subconsciously it ends up bothering you.

The ideal is to find a way around your mental state to play. If it's not possible, wait for her to improve and things will be resolved.

Of course, especially if the disease is painful

Thank God, no one in my family is sick.
But for me, my family is much more important than poker. It is sad that your wife has such health problems.

poker needs your 100% attention so as not to lose details of what is happening and thus make the best decisions, it is best not to play while your wife recovers and during that time you can study to improve your game, another option is to play cash games so you can leave practically instantly

The family comes first and it may be that for these reasons you lose concentration, but that's the way things are, a challenge is not letting that affect you, but it is difficult.

Oh man that doesn't sound good at all. You can't concentrate on your thing at all. Of course, you need rest and concentration for this game, especially since you have to make the right decisions. Sometimes I play on my smartphone when I'm out and about and I can feel the stress from the outside. Sooner or later you lose the fun of the game.

When I met my current wife Patricia and learned that she had Parkinson's disease, I had to stop playing poker.
In 2021 he had surgery that changed our lives for the better, for that reason he played poker again.
Yes, apart from the fact that in my case I use poker to get out of the daily routine a bit, a family illness can affect you.
Cheers:):):):giggle::giggle::giggle:
