Good afternoon guys, how are you?

Have you ever stopped to think that the way you play poker may have something to do with the way you look at life?

I'm not saying that every aggressive player is aggressive outside the tables, or that every nit is afraid to take risks. But some patterns are curious.

There are players who must always be involved in the hand. Another prefers to wait for the perfect opportunity. And there are those who, after losing a large hand, begin to accelerate the game trying to recover immediately.

In my case, I consider myself an anxious person and I noticed that this also appeared in my poker.

Sometimes I wanted to solve everything quickly, I thought too much about the result and made decisions on the spur of the moment.

I've been working on this with help, reading, exercise, sleep care, and breathing. The anxiety hasn't gone away, but today I can better understand when it begins to influence my decisions.

And that ended up improving my game as well.

Maybe poker doesn't reveal exactly who we are, but it can reveal some behaviors that we don't even notice.

And you?
Have you noticed any of your off-the-table traits showing up in your game?

I think so, poker style is closely linked to a player's personality. The simplest example is "TILT", which indicates that a person has weak nerves and an inability to handle stress.

Interesting question! I play balanced poker and try never to be read. In reality my physical balance is crap. If the cops asked me to stand on one leg or granny step a straight line they would think Iwas drunk.:)

I'm very polite and believe in complimenting people on their accomplishments, which is why you'll always hear me saying "Nice hand." when someone beats me. :) One of the nicest compliments I've received at the poker table was during a break another player told me that I was one of the most patient players he'd ever seen. I thanked him and said that I'd learned to be patient at other activities I've participated in. :)

How about saving that aggression for poker?

I like playing when I'm motivated; I find I play better that way than on autopilot.

I love challenges, I think that's why I often play hands I shouldn't and bluff😁

Truth. We need to stop opening the table for nothing.

Tilt is perhaps one of the clearest examples of how the emotional end up showing up on the table. Sometimes poker shows that before we know it.

Pergunta interessante!
I liked the example! In fact, we may need to be careful not to try to explain everything by personality. Poker is also full of unpredictable situations.

That's really cool. Patience is a trait that makes a big difference in poker, and it's interesting to know that you also learned this off the table. I need to evolve a lot in this regard.

I think a lot of people identify with that! The challenge from time to time makes us leave our comfort zone, but it can also make us invent some necessary hands.

That's exactly what it is. That part of focusing on the decision and not on the result changed my way of looking at poker a lot as well. Bad beat tests that patience a lot. ♠️
