Yes I suppose one or two drinks really can make you more relaxed and put you in a good mood and a good state of mind which can be helpful. But getting drunk at the poker table makes no sense at all.

I really like drink at the table, when I play with friends with the cards in my hands, but when I'm playing on line, i don't do, i fell that i lose my concentration in analisys the game and the players. I'm not a Pro, so maybe because this. I hope help on your question fella.

I ALWAYS drink when I play. Live and online. I have made many bad decisions and lost too much money many times because of it, but I have also taken some risks I might not have otherwise and made some great decisions as well. All in all, it's best to play sober, but I can't help myself. I love my drinking!:rock::vollkomme

It depends. I think, if you drink one little bottle of beer on a Friday evening, it helps sometimes)). If you need one cold beer to get rid of stress, to relax while playing in your favourite freeroll (once a month, for example), it's ok, it's harmless! But if You drink 2 beers or more... if you are drunk and trying to register in a tournament with a huge buy-in (like half of your bankroll) with thoughts like "it's now or never"... you are a loser.

I just turned 49 and alcohol affects me differently now than what it did when I was younger. I still like to drink cheap beer every day but I don't like do get drunk so 4-5 x 4% alcohol beers every arvo/evening is ok....Just tonight my newish flatmate gave me 2 shots of JD, I've had about 3 beers already, I sit down at a 10c/25c NLO8 short table (bring in $5 or 20 BB's) & proceed (over many hands)
to lose just over $18. I sit out and coin flip my losses (by choosing red or black card) & lose 4 times in a row...one of those times I picked the green joker card, aint no way you can win pickin' dat card. Then I won the next 5 flips in a row, not only making back the money I'd lost coin flipping but the $18 something I'd lost from playing cards, breaking me even. I don't know if I would be so brave to coin flip 9 times and beak even after losing over $90 in the first 4 flips if I hadn't have had those JD shots...there's some kind of strange attractor relationship between alcohol & bravery and luck...haven't figured it out completely yet/

if you are already drunk and trying to play, the best is the lowest limit of bets for example in cash without fanaticism.

If you play for fun, then you can drink, but if you play seriously - vryatle alcohol will have a positive effect on your decisions.

Why are you asking? Drinking any alcohol is illegal in some jurisdictions.

I have seen some live players use drinks as a prop to deceive the table about their sobriety.

I have seen some players have a beer in each hand and have a great time at the poker table whether they won a hand or not.

I have seen some players drink at the poker table because their not allowed to drink at home!

But in general drinking will cloud your mind and perception and you will think "F%^#&..it, I call!" way too many times.

I always try not to take anything that has alcohol that can make me play in a very loose way and play with hands that I would not play being sober. But once in a while I play having a few beers and I have a lot of fun too hahaha
