The Visa electron card is accepted all over the world - tourists in the US use it at the ATMs... Can you see tourists in the US unable to get cash, pay hotel bills, airline tickets, etc. etc. etc??
That would be a serious international disaster....
I agree. I don`t see how the U.S. authorities can go any further down the road of restricting international trade. The World Trade Organisation has ruled that American trade restrictions (specifically UIGEA) are illegal, and the U.S. has decided not to appeal the ruling.
The only thing that stops the rest of the world from going the next logical step and imposing sanctions is the huge fallout that would cause, because of America`s importance in international relations and in trade. If it were a third world country, they would have done it already.
If the U.S. authorities push their luck further, some of the smaller countries (especially those unfriendly to America) are bound to start pushing for action and complaining that there is one rule for them and another for the big boys.
