First Time Playing Live

In a couple of months I will turn 21 and be making my first trip to a casino to play. I am super nervous though, I am worried to death I will mess the blinds up or show my hand at the conclusion of a hand to soon or just something that should be easy for me. Can anyone give any tips or information to study or how to stay calm? Thanks!

People do these things every time I play live - really not a big deal, so don't worry about it.

Pay attention though! Focus on having a good time and playing your game.

that was very good I remember that played cash with 10$ and then I finished the night with 300$ that was very good

Look for one of the free poker lessons offered by some casinos. This will teach you table etiquette, how to make a bet etc. This should relax you.

Just relax. Let the dealer know its your first time playing live and they will be happy to help. They will tell you when your the blinds. Also, wait until they say showdown. They can call hand for you if in doubt. Get there a little early and just get comfortable in the poker room. Most of all have fun. You only play your first live game once!

I remember my 1st time going to a casino like it was yesterday - I really wanted to play craps so I downloaded a program, read books, developed a strategy and practiced every day. I thought I was an expert even before getting there and boasted to my friends how I was gonna crush the casino. We got there and the table was almost full. They passed the dice to me and I was ready - I grabbed the dice and threw - What I did not realize was that I threw them to the short side of the table - The stickman screams "no dice" and of course all my friends burst out laughing.

No matter how much I practiced and studied, I never learned this rule -

Dont be too confident, take your time, breath and after a few hands you will get comfortable - I would recommend staying away from any stimulants like coffee and wait for a few rotations before playing a hand -

We have all been there, my friend. All of us had our nervous first time but don't worry those things happen all the time and people are pretty understanding of newbies. They'll think they can make some money off you haha

Love finding these posts, my local casino just started their poker room and I'm nervous to go check it out. It's $1/$2 nlhe only for now. I might just watch for half hour or maybe I'll feel good and sit down, still not sure lol

If you have played online your probably already better than most reg live players stick to what you know and have seen online and have fun.

I have played online for a couple years so I know I will have some general knowledge but I assume I will make a mistake or two just from nerves. I am however looking really forward to it and will for sure have some fun. Thanks everyone for all the tips!

Friend, you have to play calmly and wisely, do not try to be what you are not, and if you are a good player do not show nervousness because the players you will pick up at the table are all wolves waiting for a lamb.

as you get older you care less.. even if you mess up the blinds thats why the dealer is there to monitor the game, and what are you they going to do anyway kick you out of the casino? lol

just have fun, your nerves will wear off just like anything else in life its a new experience so your always be a little nervous trying something new.

I agree with this one here.
And IMO i would say:
When you go there don't go and rush to sit down at a table right away, but walk around and watch from a distance how some people are playing and if you get to see a showdown you will also get an idea how live poker is very different from online poker.

And whenever you feel comfortable enough just jump in a small buy-in and test your skills

.

Thats what i did the first time here in Suriname and it paid off

So gl at the tables and don't be nervous bro, just think of it as if you were playing with some friends at home.

I can give advice but decide only you. Going for the first time in the casino write 2 development scenarios and follow one of them.
