This installment of From The Floor - Live deals with raising

1. Blinds are 200-400, preflop action is folded around to the small blind who throws out a 1000 chip on top of his small blind. Is this a raise?

2. Blinds are 300 - 600. Preflop UTG raises to 1200. Cutoff player throws in two 1000 chips. Is this a raise?

3. Blinds are 1000 - 2000. Preflop UTG throws out one 5000 chip. Is this a raise?

4. Blinds are 200-400. Preflop UTG throws out 750 in chips. Is this a raise?

In all 4 situations above the raiser made no verbal declaration.
Answer to 1 - 3 is NO. Answer to 4 depends.
1. The one chip rule applies here, even though player already has a small blind in.
2. Since neither chip can stand alone as a call here, it is not a raise even though it meets the rule that it has to be equal to or greater than previous bet.
3. One chip rule applies here, easy one.
4. If 50% rule is in effect (most casinos and some stand alone card rooms) then yes, if not then no and extra chips get returned.

answer to 4 varies from casino to casino to card room.

also be careful using tda as default rules for everything, they are by definition tournament rules only
