both of these links ^^^^ say the same. It is game specific, but AsAh vs AdAc, a RF vs RF ( like thats gonna be an issue..lol - maybe 7 card stud, draw poker) are split pots unless otherwise specified AFAIK.

^ this. It's easy to remember because it's in reverse alphabetical order.

Note that about the only use this ranking has in modern poker is deciding who has the bring-in for stud games: if two players both get dealt a two as their upcard, then the one with the lowest suit has to bring in (and the reverse in Razz, obviously).

Otherwise, identical flushes etc have the same value regardless of suit and result in a split pot.

Edit: obviously the colour of the cards has no effect on their ranking, so it doesn't matter if you're playing with a two-colour deck or a four-colour one. Also, these are the rankings for poker - it's entirely possible other games have different suit rankings, which is probably the source of the confusion.

It's a chop, regardless of the game type because (with the sole exception of deciding the bring-in in stud games) suits have equal value in all poker games.

With the sole exception of deciding the bring-in in stud games, suits have equal value in all normal poker games. Assume this is the case, unless you're told otherwise because you're playing a whacky home game variant or something.

I was curious mostly for live tournaments where cards are used when consolidating chips, etc. I still remember my first live tourney and asking my buddy, half under my breath, at the break.

Since then, I've always seen the reverse alphabetical order used. I was just wondering if that was "standard".

True, suit rankings can also be used as a tie breaker during a tournament colour up, with the same spades > hearts > diamonds > clubs ranking as a stud bring-in. I didn't mention it before largely because it's not something you come across in-game - a similar example (which I think someone mentioned before) is some card rooms will use suit as a tie breaker when deciding which seat gets the button at the start of a game.

On a side note, if the suit ranking part of a colour up is the bit you find most confusing then you've done exceptionally well - in theory I know how to do one, but in practice I know I'd probably make a mess of it. I'm sooooooooo glad that all the games I deal apply the much simpler "just round everybody up" rule.

It's not about 'bad eyes' for myself (20-20 vision here). I'm used to running 9-tables tiled on a 17" laptop with 2-colour deck (&/or 12-16tiled on 22" monitor) & have never had a problem 'seeing' the cards. For myself it's about using the most efficient method & that is 4-colour by a longshot (I'd never go back to 2 ).

I keep seeing everyone post screenshots with 4 colored deck. It does seem to flash flush draws right in your face, but it was taken some getting used to, as being used to just red and black, it just takes some used to get 4 colors. The cant use these cards live becasue it would ruin their stupid stipulations, AHH YES CRACKED ACES WIN YOU MONEY but they have to be 2 BLACK ACES or 2 RED ACES, and blah blah blah

I will say the more I play with 4 colors the more I do like it

It really does depend on which game you are playing though

hearts, diamonds, clubs, spades: Preference, 500, Tysiacha
clubs, spades, hearts, diamonds: Skat, Doppelkopf, Sheepshead
spades, hearts, clubs, diamonds: Big Two (Choi Dai Di, Da Lao Er)
diamonds, hearts, spades, clubs: Pusoy Dos
clubs, hearts, spades, diamonds: Ninety-nine
spades, hearts, diamonds, clubs: Contract Bridge

As Oz said, there are situations in which suit ranks are used in poker, and then it generally seems to be bridge ranking that is used

I don't use the 4 color deck solely because it's ugly...

The 2 color deck seems like the trendy thing to do be doing and maybe it's just used so much it's become a habit.

I used to use a 2 color deck, but then I moved to the 4, and now I only use a 1 color deck. A color-blind person only sees variations of greys and such, so I'd thought I'd give it a try. That way I'm never biased to any suit or draws unless I slip up on the meth and lose all my money thinking I have a flush every hand. I guess that's the price you pay when using genius methods to gain a slight advantage when multi-tabling.

I dont know why but I am always on 2 color deck. Try long day ago 4 color deck but thats too shy for my eyes, playing maximum 4 tables on sametime and no need for 4 color deck. Black is black and Red is red.

Four color deck is the way to fold or go. Lot easier to see, especially multi-tabling. Playing live always black and read but on-line every site is the four color option. Took a few days to get use too but playing with two color now just seems strange. With Euchre that is always still the black and red.

Based on your info, i started using the 4 color deck. yes it does help. It take a little to get use to it but it does aid in what you have for a hand.
