four colour deck

why is a standard deck of cards only two colors ?
it seems to me a four color deck (different color for each suit)
makes much more sense.
is this a traditional thing or to do with cost ?
why don't online poker rooms use a four color deck
by default, instead of having to change from 2 colors ?
i presume you can buy a 4 color pack of cards, are these
more expensive to make ?
with poker software its easy to have 4 colors with no extra
cost.
is anyone still using a 2 color deck online ?
just curious.

I agree 100% - I always opt for the 4 color deck. I guess it is just traditional to have 2 colors. My eyes are not good enough - I need 4 lol.

Once upon a time there was only black. Printing costs et al. Huge improvement when they added a second color.

I was a big bridge player, and never saw 4 color decks until I saw online poker. And while I haven't shopped for cards in years, I would imagine 4 color decks can be bought.

Online 4 color decks should be standard IMHO. Then you could opt for the 2 color version, or what the hell, opt for a 1 color version....We don't need no stinking color!

When Mike Caro introduced 4 color deck to the poker world in 92? it is said that the regs hated them but the beginners at low limits loved them, meaning donkeys like shiny colors.

I prefer to play the 2 color deck, but that's because I only played one time with the 4 color deck. I guess I thought it was weird because I'm not used.

I started using 4 colors when I started multi tabling. My eyes are not the greatest and it was sometimes necessary to wear my glasses and I dont like to wear them if I dont need to. Now I am so used to it, that I will never go vack to 2 color decks.

I hated them, but I find them good for mixed games. I still have a problem using them in holdem. And in person I didn't like them either. Guess it just depends on the person.

I love them, makes it easier to identify obvious draws when you're multitabling, and play with them live at my University Poker Society

In the LIVE arena, when you are only playing 1 hand at a time, its easy, buy multi-tabling on-line, 4 colours come in very handy.

I didn't like them at first, tradition and what not. Now though that is one of the first settings I look for when I load a new client/skin. Definitely helps me when multitabling.

I think I'm an odd one out because I still use two-colour decks online.

Mostly it's because I have to work with two-colour decks when I deal live games and I don't want to run the risk of getting my brain wired for four colours and starting to miscall live hands. My boss wouldn't be too pleased if I started awarding people pots just because they had five red cards...

Plus I've never played more than about six or eight tables at a time online so misreading hands in the rush has never been a big issue for me.

seems a bit 'behind the times' to me.
i never play live in casino's but if i did,
i would deffo want a 4 color deck.

Not in any casino that I've every seen or heard of either - maybe it's a tradition thing, but miscalling hands because of card colours is a much smaller issue in live games because the pace is slower, you're only playing one table at a time and there are multiple people at the table able to pick up mistakes.
