The most funny thing I keep hearing is people complaining they lose because there are many "bad" players who get lucky, I wonder if they think they will get better results against "good" players.
Yesterday some guy kept complaining because someone made a check/raise, arguing it was bad manners and that he would get shot if he did it on a live room :).

I have heard of some old games where check/raising was considered bad form and/or not allowed. If you read some of the older books on poker, the authors will often mention this when talking about check/raising. It was more of a house rule, and never an official rule. The authors advise you to be aware of the house rules, but if there is no rule they say there are perfectly valid spots for it.

These days, it's considered a perfectly valid and normal part of a person's strategy. And, I doubt anyone would have ever gotten shot in a live game, even where it was against the rules. I suspect the actual punishment would have been along the lines of refusing the raise (declaring it a call) and a warning.

Edit: Google the term "sandbagging" for good hits about this. Here is one hit https://books.google.com/books?id=y...F#v=onepage&q=poker sandbagging rules&f=false

Now days I don't think they would get shot. But throughout history, there have been plenty of people that did get shot over poker games.
Still, we are a lot safer here behind our computer screens! ;)

Maybe there were some shootings over games, but I doubt sandbagging would have been the cause of many (or any). Perhaps if the player considered it cheating. Still, it's not against the rules and no one is getting shot over this now.

You're more likely to get shot, in recent history, from a robbery or a police raid, if you're playing in some games. I would venture to say that your combined risk, over all of poker history, of being shot is much higher from those uninvolved in the game (robbers/cops) than other players.

Computer poker is definitely the safest, physically. I would say that legal card rooms and casinos are also very safe.

I've had the same kind of experince online. I made a 4bet with aces and the person who made that 3bet just lost it. He folded and started to laugh how bad player I am when I'm 4betting. I asked how is that bad play and got the usual "you know nothing" as an answer. This still puzzles me :D He was the one who made a lot of 3bets so I started to make more of those 4bets with strong hands and he folded EVERY time. Talking about bad play...

These days I was in the PS in the MMT of $ 0.55 1k of prize, the chiplider was in my table with more than 150BBs, every move he pushed everything in the center of the table, it was annoying because it could not play much if wanted to play had to do the Even the fact is that not a lot happened a player with a 80bbs was moved to our table, he paid an all in the chiplider with 7.2s, and hit the flop with your flush, I laughed a lot, in fact all of Table laughed a lot, after that he disappeared. I think his strategy was suicidal.

Player raises to $20. A player in the field goes all in for about $100. The OR stares at the DEALER for about 10 seconds and makes the call. The board runs out with an Ace on the River, the All In player shows pocket 8's, and the OR triumphantly turns over AK to take the pot. As he's raking in the chips he says

"I suck with AK. There are only 5 dealers here I'll call with it."

94 is a great cash hand!

This one is from $1/$2 Cash game that's been playing more like a loose $2/$5. Everyone is deep and most pots are multi-way regardless of action. A decent player (not spewy) in seat 10 is chatting with a very laggy 80% vpip reg in seat 9. And mentions a hand he saw on wsop where one player called a pot sized river bet with 94s and no made hand. Pretty bad right? Seat 9 responds "I wouldn't play that hand in a tournament but 94s is a great hand in cash games 'cause it's so hidden." How can you argue with that logic? Immediately after that exchange seat 9 limps UTG, there's a couple of calls and I make it $20 on the button with :10s4:. the blinds fold and of course everyone calls. The flop comes :ah4::10d4::5h4: it checks to me and I bet $60 into $80. Super lag calls and the other two go away. The Turn is :8c4: I go $150. "Call!" The River is a beautiful :8h4: and Super Lag shoves all in for his last $400. I have him covered and I call with my Full House. "See? I told you 94 was a great cash hand!" as he triumphantly tables his :9h4::4h4:

Don't worry. It does happen. Maybe not to "everybody," [LOL] but it does happen. I have seen it once.

I have also seen two different players mistake A4 for AA in live games.

I saw something similar at a tournament once. A co-worker of mine was in a hand where the flop came out with a K. He bet/raised it all the way down to the river, thinking he had top pair. At showdown, he proudly turned over his hand, only to realize he actually had a J and not a K. The look on his face was priceless. He lost the pot and had only a few BB left. To make things worse, a K would have won that pot because the person calling his bets was pretty bad. I couldn't stop laughing for most of that night.

Cant get enough chuckles at how on-line is rigged and how they never see those kind of hands live. Can't over look the players who see "patterns" as well. It is just too flippin funny.

give this post a like if you find this bad player saying funny:

"I would have won the hand if I had not folded"

This quote applies a lot to them:

You can understand by correcting the stereotypes and scenarios of your behavior,l sometimes heard abusive phrases addressed to me by weak and unbalanced players, but you don't need to pay attention to this.If you want to be a good player, learn to recognize and defeat players who are worse than you.Take advantage of the lack of talent and experience these players have, after all, poker is a game in which money is made on the mistakes of opponents.

Here's one that qualifies. Not so much funny as surprising.
I'm playing $1/$3 NLH and get dealt AA in Middle Position. UTG opens to $10 and I raise to $35. The SB goes to $100 and UTG Folds. I ship All-In for about $300 more, SB calls and shows AKo. Aces hold up. Yay!

As I rake in a nice pot the SB says "I didn't put you on Aces"

I didn't respond but quietly wondered "Why the **** not?" I thought I played my Aces about as face up as is possible!
