Do you feel poker is gambling just like any other betting or gaming variants or more of a skills competition, In casino's we at times even sell it just like a marketing strategy more than normal table hence try to negotiate 0 tax on it as the only value it brings is if the players hit the roulette and other tables and drop some money. So what do you guys think?

Luck decides who wins today; skill decides who wins over the years.

Poker is gambling. You put your money down and you are not guaranteed to get it back. So play with money you can afford to lose.

I think poker is both gambling and a skill game.

In the short term, luck plays a huge role. Anyone can win a hand or even a tournament. In the long run, however, skill, discipline, bankroll management, and mental control are what separate winning players from losing ones.

If poker were pure luck, we wouldn't see the same players consistently winning year after year. If it were pure skill, bad beats and downswings wouldn't exist.

To me, poker is a skill game that operates through a mechanism of chance.

The truth is poker is probably both: skill decides who wins in the long run, while luck decides who gets to complain in the chat today 🤣

The truth is that poker have to be funny for most of us, for most of us have to be a gambling game. Who wants to make money on poker has the duty to keep that magic going for recreative players.

It's a game of skill that requires a lot of luck to win... they say luck helps those who train and study poker.

I think that competing against other people immediately makes poker a game of skill, even though luck is involved. Just look at the best poker players in the world and you'll see the same names consistently performing at the top year after year. If poker were purely gambling, we wouldn't have legendary players with long-term success, because it would all come down to "luck." The short term is heavily influenced by variance, but over the long run, skill tends to prevail.

Poker is a competition of skill, mental concentration, to decide the bets, however, luck influences, otherwise bad streaks would not suggest.

have Lady Luck sitting beside you now and then.:):):)

The longer I play this game, the harder it becomes to deny that micro-stakes poker (or freerolls, God forbid) is 99% a scam for compulsive gamblers. You either get lucky today, or you'll leave everything here—and the poker room will make sure you get the river you need to leave every last cent.

Its a skill based game, its not a sport, its not just gambling, it is a skill based game.

The best players are the winners over the long term.

I think it's a skills competition. Ofcourse it's gambling in general, but you need the skill in order to come out on top

For me, poker is a mix of both skill and gambling. Luck definitely plays a role in the short term, but over a large sample of hands, skill becomes the deciding factor.

That's why the same players tend to be profitable year after year, something you rarely see in games like roulette or slots. If poker were purely gambling, long-term results would be much more random.

So I would say poker starts with luck, but success in the long run depends mostly on skill, discipline, and bankroll management.

i would say 70% skill and 30 % luck. If you are good and have skill, long term win is a sure thing.

That's easy to answer. It is skill when I win and luck if I lose !
