Getting Bankrolled

Has anyone ever been bankrolled into a game. I see that there are sites where people can buy you into tournaments for free. You make a deal before the tourny starts, then they disperse the money after it's over. Is this safe? Has anyone bought a random person into a game?

A couple years ago, a guy gave me money to play in a tourney on stars. I lost but he didnt care cause it was only a buck. I thought it was a neat opportunity and he was a good guy. But i already knew him from a forum, he was not a complete stranger

I see guys at foxwoods that Buy random people in cash games or tournaments. Some of them don't even play, they just monitor the guys they bankroll.
