Gus Hansen is at the 2017 wsop, do you think he'll play the main event? How will he do after so many years away? Could he be this years dark horse to win?

I think he will play the main event. I don't think he will be able to play well.

It's just like riding a bike, you never forget. What happens is the best level of opponents that evolves.

I'd like to see him do well, his classic "all-in" approach at the poker league tournament was legendary (YouTube If you've never seen it).

@adventurebound that is very cool!

Yes, i,m sure it,s correctly to say he can be the "dark horse" of the 2017 WSOP. You know, some people maybe don,t understand who is this. Some people will think that his great days already in past and right now he is not good enough. But i,m sure, this guy is still a great professional and i believe, his performance can be a big surprize for everyone.

Does anyone know why he lost 20M on online sites? is there such a big difference in required skills between off and online tournaments? I would imagine being skilled in one translates into the other...

I don't think he is out of practice at all. From what I read he has been playing live over seas somewhere.

He didn't lose it online in tournament play. He lost it in highstakes cash games.

No, I don't think Gus will be the darkhorse at this year's WSOP.

Most of those losses were in cash games, not tournaments - and they weren't necessarily all in NLHE games either.

Basically he lost those millions playing in nosebleed cash games against some of the best players in the world.

The WSOP Main Event, on the other hand, is a crapshoot medium stakes tournament where it's reasonable to assume he'll be better than many of the other players. So it's apples and oranges.

Yes he will be! I was watching one of Daniel Negreanu Vlogs on his YouTube channel and he ran into Gus Hansen at the gym who said he would play the main event and maybe another random smaller WSOP event.

I feel like he's way more exciting in the cash games tho but interesting still.
