I've been on both sides of this. I never begrudged my opponent for playing as fast as he could to steal as many blinds as he could before I got back. I also take full advantage of the situation if it comes up. I don't do tournaments anymore, so it never really occurs these days, but I would still do it.

You cant really 'wait' for him as blinds are on a timer and you have to play down to a winner anyway. You can timeout yourself every hand if it makes you feel better but you gotta believe he wouldn't do the same for you

Winning at poker is not about playing fair. Winning at poker is about taking every legal edge you have over your opponents and turning it into your own bottom line. That's why good players specifically target and beat up fish rather than playing against other regs. It's how you make money.

If it helps, consider it a form of variance. When your villain gets hit in the head with the deck so that you get dominated every hand and lose huge sums he's not gonna be thinking of the ethical repercussions of taking your money, and you sure as shit won't either when you run like God -- you'll just rake up. This is no different.

It can feel a little dirty but... yeah, if it's some random that you're playing, click minraise every hand as fast as possible.

Things might be a little different if it's a regular that you might want action from again in the future, but how often does that happen at low stakes?

I know it might make me sound the dolt but I let my clock time out one time before clicking away.

I think its most likely because of my ego and the knowledge that if your HU with me, you haven't a prayer anyway.

OK OK, if i have to reveal my secret,i guess there is no better time than now.
If my opponent is disconnected heads up i fold everythin untill he comes back and try to time myself out so i can be sure to lose if possible because "fair play"is my motto.

I've clicked and I haven't clicked. If it's HU4rollz, I'm clicking. Right thing to do is not click, I've seen people do it and wait it out each time.

I would say so. Honestly I hate timers in general. One of my least favourite things about OLP, though I consider them an unfortunate necessity.

I think it speaks well of you as a person that you are asking the question. It does feel a bit crapy to do it to someone, I agree. Before black Friday I used to play a lot of HU SNG's on Stars. I've waited for people to come back a couple times when they disconnected, but I stopped. The thing is almost no one else will to this for you thus you're giving your opponents an edge if you wait for them. You gotta just take advantage knowing that you'll be on the bad side too so it evens out in the long run.

You do what you think they would have done if the situation were reversed. If it's a reg you play against a lot and are on good terms with, you sit out too, if not, you take their chips asap.

Like I said it's a form of variance.

And also keep in mind, poker is a negative-sum game so to survive in it you cannot play clean. You are competing against both your opponents and the casino (rake/fees), so you must take any and all edges you have and are are given, short of cheating.

In a sense poker sort of encourages scummy behaviour because it's necessary to survive. You don't play equally-skilled regs in a sporting manner, because that is a very significantly loss-making proposition -- you will break even so the only winner is the rake. You find bad players against which you have an "unfair" advantage, and you punish them mercilessly for their shitty play.
