We all have a hand we love, but deep down, we know we overplay it. What is your most expensive story of holding a personal favorite hand and simply refusing to fold it on the river because of emotional attachment?

For me, definitely AA 😅. I love this hand, but that’s exactly why it can be hard to let go when the board and villain’s action clearly suggest you’re probably beat. One of my most expensive lessons was learning that AA is still just one pair.

On the river, variance can kill even your favorite hand, so sometimes you just have to make the call and let the cards decide. 😂

Of course, that's not always the right decision, but when you get emotionally attached to a hand, it's very easy to convince yourself that your opponent is bluffing. You start finding excuses to call instead of looking objectively at the board and the betting.

So sometimes it's basically: “I've come this far... let's call and let God decide!” 😂♠️

Exactly! I literally just busted a tournament because of AA.

A player before me had just lost a huge pot on the previous hand, so he went all-in. I had AA and had him covered, so of course I called his all-in. He had pocket tens.

The flop came Q-9-8, the turn was another 9, and then the river was a J. That J completed his straight and left me with only a small stack.

I still had some chips left, but at that point it was already too late to recover my momentum and get back into the tournament. Honestly, what a brutal way to go.

You have AA, your opponent has TT, you get the money in as a huge favorite, and then the board decides to punish you on the river. It's frustrating as hell, but I guess that's poker. You can make the right decision and still end up fighting for your tournament life. Damn you, poker variance!

An AA allin x 22 post flop, he cracked 22 and I couldn't let go of my hand. It happens... but it hurt my pocket.

For me, it’s definitely AK 😂. I know I should let it go sometimes, but when you have top pair with a good kicker, folding on the river feels so painful!

I would say that I don't have favorite hands, but when I get a couple of AA, or OK, I feel like I'm already sure of winning, but not really, I've been defeated several times, by trios or ladder, all the way.

Getting attached to a favourite hand can get expensive fast. Suited connectors look great until you start calling raises you normally wouldn’t, then pay extra to chase a draw. I think the real heartbreaker is knowing you should fold but convincing yourself to see one more card. A memorable win with a hand can make you forget all the smaller pots it’s cost you.

That's the biggest fault in mtts I started to make a lot of final table Since I started making hero folds... there's no hand I won't fold if I see the board is too connected... and the best training for that is PLO.. Just today I folded AA

Pocket Jacks are definitely my ultimate heartbreaker hand. They look so good pre-flop, but it always feels like an overcard hits the board on the flop right away. I've lost some of my biggest pots with JJ, but I still can't bring myself to fold them easily! 💔

Every poker player has that one hand they wish they could play again.
The favorite hand. The big pot. The painful result.

Todos nós temos uma mão favorita, mas, no fundo, sabemos que a jogamos em excesso. Qual é a sua história mais cara de ter uma mão favorita e simplesmente se recusar a desistir no rio por causa do apego emocional?
