With the wsop and the WPT being the juggernauts' in the poker world, I was curious if anyone has played in any HPT events. They come to Chicago twice a year. Love it!

I haven't - they are all too far for me. I do have friends who have played in them.

No i haven't played in any i know they have some nice charity events there as well i play in those type of games at least one a year.

I played in one of their preliminary events - not the main event - when they came to Kansas City last year. I even cashed, so that was cool. They're here again in a few weeks, and I plan to play in another one of the preliminary events.

It was a great time.

The Heartland Poker Tour is in Kansas City in a few weeks. Are there any suggestions of the best strategy to play the different events that are scheduled.
Its a 10 day event that has many, many qualifying tournaments. But is it best to play the first weekend (Friday - Sunday) or wait until the last Thursday and enter then.

This is my first HPT so just trying to get a read on the process.

Blue_Fossil, how long did you play before you got into the money? How many players were there to start with? Nice job on cashing!

Played in the seniors event in kc 3 times. Cashed all 3 times.

I've watched replays of their final tables and it looks pretty soft honestly. If you have the chance to play in one i would go for it. The WPT and WSOP are huge fields and much harder to make a deep run. heartland seems like a great series to start and run it up
