At some point, as a small child, you hadnt correlated the relationship between fire and getting burned so inevitably many children suffer minor burns in the learning process. Eventually your "read" on what fire is and what it does in certain situations becomes so strong that you no longer feel the urge to touch hot ambers to find out if they are hot enough.
