So what is the structure? A chapter a week? This could turn into anarchy real quick without some structure... IMHO

Just a quick update. I exchanged a few messages with Owen yesterday. Just to confirm, he likes the idea of a thread where we post questions, hands etc. as we have planned. He did a webinar for the Poker math book but doesn't want to do that again. So format wise we are on the right track.

He again emphasized how the first 35 pages are pretty basic and that also seems to be the consensus here so we can certainly kick things off where it gets interesting on page 36. I will include a brief summary of 1-35 for completeness sake. Also, he is fine with our projected start date.

So, it looks like our format is fine and as far as I can tell the start date is fine with everyone so I will give this another bump in a few days and right before we start I will try to message everyone to remind them. Also, once the study group thread is up I'll link to it here for any stragglers.

I thought a chapter a week had been mentioned a few times. Sorry if I wasn't clear. Looking at the page of contents each chapter is between 10 to 15 pages with a quiz and summary at the end. It seems like a pretty natural progression but as always if there is strong preference for something different from the group please speak up.

Again, sorry apparently I didn't make this clear enough.

Quick edit: Also, at the suggestion of Owen as well as several posters ITT we are going to use page 35 (chapter 3) as the jumping off point.

Maybe the first session should be over the first 2 chapters since they are more like review of fundementals from what I have been told. Alas I have not received my book yet, I ordered through Amazon, maybe today.

Damnit! UPS delivered the book today WHEN I WASN'T HERE AND SAYS THEY NEED ME TO SIGN SO THEY DIDN'T DROP IT OFF! So I call and they say I can pick it up between 8:00pm and 9:00pm 20 miles from here! Not only that they won't put it in my mailbox so I have to be home to sign for it.

yea they do that. Dont be pissed, its standard. BUT if you leave a note, make sure "For UPS Delivery person" is un-missable, and ask them to leave it, they usually will. You can get a neighbor to sign, let UPS know who to go to. If no neighbor is possible, call em up and ask what you can do in case of no one home at delivery time. I know I had a UPS left at the door with a note and no one signed.

I wanted to join this but have a feeling it might just alil over my head, as Im stepping back somewhat and really trying to review some fundamentals of my game and get those right first.

Once I get through some studies now, I probably will buy this book I feel I will be just be posting ill informed stuff rather than real problem stuff. But will this thread be a public thread and/or will the thread be available after its over for a while. SInce yall are gonna discuss it one chapter at a time, when I can read it then I can see a full forum of questions that will add to the book.

Pretty sure that once you do receive it & read the first 34pages, you'll likely agree with the author's suggestion that we start off on page35

Rest assured--I feel that way too but I'm all for pushing myself beyond my comfort zone, which I have found is a great way to learn. From another perspective, what would be the point of a study group that was about stuff we all know cold?!

And here, they leave the New Computer from Amazon at the door while my neighbor is out of town for a couple days, and it rains....

Woo Hoo! We are one week out. Media, I like your idea of a different thread for each chapter and I'll link to the past threads in the op of each new thread. Otherwise, I agree one super long thread could be really messy/hard to follow.

As always, if anyone has some different ideas please let me know. I'm all fired up to do this but I haven't participated in something like this before and I don't want to screw it up.

How about this

Maybe a super thread with individual threads under it for each Chapter or study session. So something like:
Learning Poker ---> Hole Card Study Group ----> Chapters 1-3
----> Chapter 4
etc.
