How big of a difference in 10 NL VS 50 NL?

9 man, I have a guy who wants to stake me 1K for 50 NL and I'm just wondering how big a difference in skill level is that, I would be skipping 25 NL and don't wanna be in shock like a fish in cold water.

Well I'm no Mr.NL50 but I probs could tell ya that it's gonna b filled w/ regs/n00bs/fish.
At the end of the day if ur gonna crush NL50 ur probs gonna have to show a decent BB/100 or just keep studying/playing.

Ive herd it' not that hard. Once u get to NL100/NL200 it starts to get hard.

But hey what do I know! Im still stuck on fricken NL10 due to my lazyness.

Go 4 it IcyblueAce, give it a shot. Jus make sure ur not gettin ur self into trouble who's giving u the $1k.

I'm not a nl guy but my experience with PLO at 10 and 50 level would be that 10 is a lot more straight forward nitting up but 50 is the limit where people are looking to get more creative and thus more 3 bets, mire barrelling and etc.

Btw, do you know your staker well? Becuase of a few reasons

1) any decent staker is not putting a 19nl player into a 50 game unless he has played/ knows your game extremely well and knows you are
better than where you are now.

Another thing to note is that you have to be ok with losing someone elses money. It seems easy now but it is not when you realise that you essentially have a boss. You would also need to make sure of the deal you have. If you are responsible for any loss or if there is makeup of any kind and that everything is layed out properly and lastly only
do it woth someone you absolutely trust

Yeah the guy I know hosts and deals poker games and buys FTP $$ off me, knowing I make decent money off 10 NL, and wants me to take a shot at 50 NL with 1K. I'm not that great of a player.. Most of my profit comes from rakeback, so without that I'd pretty much break even -- but I can play a lot of tables, 16 currently which is the max on FTP until I request a limit increase.

I know some people would feel more comfortable playing with other peoples money, but I myself wouldn't.. I think I'd feel so bad if I started losing his money..

I'm not too sure how staking deals work, I know for one if I lose I shouldn't have to pay for loses??

Well it depends. Some deals are different so be sure to get all information out of it. One thing I would say is to avioid things like makeup which may put you into a very long term agreement.

Like Marginal says, be careful of what you're getting into.

I've played $100nl and $25nl tables concurrently. There's a huge difference. Less limping, far fewer flops seen, far fewer hands going to showdown at $100nl. Still fish, but they're fewer and farther between.

^this, honestly I'm not a cash player, but skipping 25nl to go straight to 50nl when you're only a breakeven (barring rakeback) at 10nl...? It just doesnt seem like a good idea. I think it would be a better idea to reduce the number of tables you play, go to 25nl, and become a winning player there before going to 50nl...

I have experience with 10NL and 25NL and the difference between them is big. I guess there is a difference also between 25NL and 50NL.

Definitely a difference. 50NL is where you start to find the good regs, those who have worked themselves up from the lower limits and have learned a lot more about the game. They're now starting to get clever. As was mentioned, 3bets are more frequent, they're trappy, they'll float you a lot more to rope-a-dope you, etc., and they're getting good enough to lay down 2nd best hand a lot of the time, unlike at the lower stakes where you can valuetown most of the bad players who can't fold middle pair.

There are some very good regulars at 50NL. Even 25NL has a lot of decent grinders that will outplay a 10NL player. Jumping straight from 10NL to 50NL if you're only b/e now would be a huge risk, I think.

Well I guess it depends on what you mean by breakeven, I make at least 1BB+ hour and rakeback ends up being huuge and if I 16 table 50 NL JUST BREAKING even should make me around $200ish a day according to RB calculators playing around 8ish hours.

Do you play 8 hrs/day now?

How does the fact that at least initially you'll likely be losing factor in to your equation?

I'd say you'll be lucky to break even AFTER rb if you're only beating 10nl for 1BB/100.

But like I said, I play 50nl (getting ready to move up to 100nl again) and I'd love to have your friends $1K in the money pool.

Because only winning 1BB at 10nl over a significant sample would mean that to have a ton of leaks that will be exploited at 50nl.

Sounds like a good deal to me.
Split the winnings with your staker, ok.
But look, you get to keep all the rakebak money so make easy profit.

One thing I would say tho is Carry on playing where you feel comfortable (If you are not comfortable you will probably not do very well).

At FTP RB add ~1BB/100. So yes you can lose and make money, you just can't lose much.

Seriously why post this thread if you already had all the answers before you asked the question? Get staked, move up and lose all your friends dollars. Like I said we can always use extra free money in the pool.

You fail to understand that 1BB at 10nl is not the same at 50nl when you have absolutely no experience even at 20nl or 50nl.

Long story short, its not a profitable venture and you could be stuck in a shity deal that rapes you in the long run.

I posted this thread asking about the difference in 10 NL vs 50 NL, there really is no reason for me not to get staked.
