How different would online poker be without HUDs?

Games would be slightly better...especially at lower limits.

There would be more of a premium on table/seat selecting and note taking.....all of which degrade the game to some degree. You would still have mass tablers imho.

I don't think the difference would be as big as people believe. That is coming from a long time non-HUD user who has used one in the last yr or so. At first you think its such a huge tool, but....honestly notes are as useful or more useful once you weed out the people with huge leaks.

I agree when playing live, but online poker is relatively new and who is to say how it is "meant" to be played.

You aren't ever getting rid of HUDs for several reasons, so learn to use a basic HUD and limit any edge another player might have on you to close to nill.

I never use a HUD or anything, just note taking (sometimes) I never got on with it at first attempt.
I think a lot of players try to play down the advantage of having a HUD because they don't want to think the HUD is the reason for their consistent results.

It's a huge advantage especially if your good on a HUD late MTT knowing what players to hammer to statistically give you the best chances is a monumental advantage to making final table

think poker would be easier, but i think you would always wonder if somebody else is using a hud

just like on bovada, huds are not allowed but somehow tournament indicator is ok - so people are always going to cheat - just ask gus hansen

You think I can't tell within a few orbits which players I want to hammer?

Plus, a lot of the numbers need to be filtered by stack size and situation....which a lot of HUD users (meeee) are too damn lazy or incompetent or busy to do.

I use a HUD and make a huge number of notes. So really with no HUD my edge would be bigger.

I cannot play with HUDs on Bovada. I just was learning to use one at Carbon Poker. I probably will deposit their again just to use a HUD. To me the poker tracker is much more important. I love to look at the data my hands make. It is fun to me.

if no hud , my efficiency shrinks.
think it will drop me from 10 /8 tables to 3 or less tables.
not that huge effect on me.
PS: there always some thing which could perform the same function as hud but just need manual input.

Here's one "huge" way it'd be different.

The Ultimate Bet/Absolute Poker scandal would "never" have been detected, and would likely have continued to go on.

It was players, using HUDs and their related software, that picked up on this scandal. The poker sites would have been just as content to leave it alone, because it really did expose their lack of enforcement in this area.

HUDs help to keep the overall game more honest.

I tried looking for info on this, what exactly happened? Was UB/AB playing bots or something?

on the topic of huds, no problem with hugs but its programs like tournment shark and what else is there now that pisses me off, sharkscope etc, how is it fair getting basic info on a player that you've never played before? Huds should be it imho

Im not using a HUD too.

Its really a big advantage using HUD.

Im just relying on stack knowledge and observing opponents / taking notes.
