I find that I mostly play poker after work during the week, but that is also the time I get to spend with my family, so it's one or the other.
How do you manage this? Do you give yourself a cut off time where you know you don't play anymore to have free time for family and friends?

My work days are kinda strange and I do it when I want to + pvt business...and I'm not tournament player so, it's easy to manage that too!

Because of that, I always have plenty of time for family and friends... 🙂

+ I understand how can be difficult to play tournaments, got normal (9-5) job and free time for family and friends! 😉

I think you can play poker in free time when you finish work and if you play well you can go pro and play all the time like a work but that isn’t easy to do

It's not a problem for me.
When I play tournament, I usually get kicked out within the first 15 minutes.
Gives me plenty of time for family and friends.

I have a start and limit time to play poker, but I have no family, what I think is that you have to see what is more important to you, and see if it really is better to spend 2/3 or even more hours playing poker than to spend time with your family, unfortunately everything in this life is ephemeral, maybe setting time limits would also be good

It's easy, really. You just need to prioritize your most important tournaments and be with your family the rest of the time. If we're talking about work and poker, it's even easier: play poker after work and on weekends.

In my opinion unless you're winning a very good amount of money playing poker there's no reason to lose important family moments to play poker. I only play when I have nothing else better to do.

Finding a balance is difficult if you have a job, family and friends, and even more so if you have children. Therefore, you just have to make your choice and give up what is not important. I think family will always be more important than anything else.

I live with my wife, we have no children. My wife doesn't mind poker, as long as I share my winnings with her :)
Sometimes, she even cheers for me, but it happens rarely. But if it was an either/or question, I would also choose my family.

It's a matter of priorities and your long-term goals. It is difficult to find a balance, so you need to choose one thing that is more important and focus on it. What is more important, family or poker. For me, the choice would be easy, my family would come first.

Balancing family time and poker time requires clear priorities, good time management, and honest communication. Start by setting a fixed schedule for poker that doesn’t interfere with key family moments—meals, events, or quality time. Communicate with your loved ones about your poker goals and make sure they feel included and respected. Use tools like time-blocking to stay organized, and be willing to sacrifice poker sessions when family needs arise. Most importantly, always evaluate whether poker is enhancing or harming your overall well-being and relationships, and adjust accordingly to maintain a healthy balance.

I think that if you have a job and a family, you have to see poker as a recreational activity, and fit it in like any other hobby, or once a week, twice a week at most, and also fit it into plans related to family entertainment, travel...
Or a family that supports you and has fun with you.

I don't have a job and I live alone, so I can play a lot. I don't win much, but when you live alone in your own house, you don't really need much. That's how I usually spend autumn, winter, and spring. In the summer, I live more of a real-life routine — my son comes to visit, and we spend time together.

I've been living like this for three years now, since the war began. I lost my job right after it started and waited a month to get the money I was owed. In the meantime, I tried playing poker again like I used to. There was one site where I built up a bankroll from freerolls. After more than a month, I finally received my salary, but I decided not to look for a new job and to keep playing poker instead.

I understand you, I have the same problem. I am also looking for balance and have not been able to find it yet. Currently, I just play pokers when I have free time, and if I have other things to do, I just don't play.

It is important not only to maintain a regular training and game schedule, but also to take breaks to rest and recharge.Meetings and time spent with loved ones also have a beneficial effect on your efficiency. Support, joint activities, can be a way to switch from the main activity and reboot the brain.
It is good if your weekends are a balanced form of leisure: computer games, sports, walks, time spent with family, reading.

I don't think there is an online poker player who doesn't face difficulty concentrating or disturbance from family. As long as you play or live with family, you can't set a specific time to play. I just hope I'm not disturbed by noise or requests🤣🤣🤣
Good luck.

Family comes first, then poker. I play poker when I can and I don't neglect my family.

Hi :)
Honestly, if you have a job, a family, and even more so if you have children, then in my opinion poker is not the game you need. It's better to focus on family issues and not be distracted, poker will be waiting for you until your retirement, when all other things are completed :)

Years ago I played online poker some more, but now I decide to play only on one or max two days per week. Rest of my free time I use to be with my family. Now is that much more then early years.
