How do you feel about other people telling you about their wins?

Me, I'm lucky if I don't react more strongly than a sarcastic/deadpan "yeah sure that's great" or "bully for you" or whatever. We can be the best of friends off the tables, we can discuss poker theory or hands all you want, you can even give me bad beat stories though I'll rate them in terms of entertainment factor and general outrageousness rather than sympathize.

But when it comes to at the tables, the only results I care about are my own. I don't want to hear about how anyone ELSE did well other than as a generic impression of poker skill, a la "this person has won MTTs before, they're not gonna be just fish" or stuff like that. I mean, it's one thing if it's just a brag to whoever's on this forum or in earshot or whatever. But don't come specifically to me and tell you how well you're doing. Please.

So, what's your guys' take?

I would much rather hear about their wins verses their loses, Ive heard enough bad beat stories to fill the Grand Canyon - they are all the same and mostly not as bad as the person thought

I would much rather hear about someone winning than hear about bad beats also. However, I don't think they should do this at the table.

I would then start asking if the player knows any of the other players and their style. I would try to get as much info from them as I can.

I don't hang out with other poker players but I am always nice to everyone in the poker room unless I feel someone is bullying someone then I may say something to the person being rude. I don't want them to run off any fish. Especially since it isn't often that I can refer to someone as a fish compared to how I play.

I only tell some of my friends if the topic comes up but surely not of every success only those I'm really proud of. About bad beats I only talk with one of my best friends, when we discuss some poker software.

As I only have one friend who regularly plays I'm not in the situation of being annoyed by the subject and strangers can talk what they want... the more they tell me about their wins the less i like them - such a behavior soon seems arrogant to me

Depends on the person, if its a good friend its fine, but when its some random person, pretty annoying.

Yeah table talk like that is just bragging. Im not keen on it either.

It is normal if a close friend even rejoice for him may the Council of some sort ask)

I have a buddy that insists on posting an update/pic to FB whenever he chops a local FT or wins at a home game, zero updates on any losses & the 4+ bullets per week he fires haha. It's a bit annoying but still good to see a friend win, would be more tolerable if not always with a middle finger and even when he wins $100 on roulette.

I will listen to win and loss stories but I prefer win lol both include them doing everything right😂

Especially on here, I WANT to hear about people winning. I LOOK for rail threads to follow along. It seemed like the OP was suggesting hearing about a past result at the table. That seems less rare, but doesn't really bother me either. Hell, at the last casino I played live (Potowatomi in Milwaukee, WI) I'd be playing at the highest stakes I could at the time 1/2 or 2/5 nlhe and like maybe once a week they run a PLO table that ALWAYS has deeper stacks, bigger action and bigger pots. It is definitely possible that in the night, someone winning a side pot on PLO was for more money than the biggest pot at ANY NL table. So, if I'm at a neighboring table, out of the hand, and not feeling like there was much valuable information to pick up at my table ATM, I would sneak a peek at the 7 way all in (usually on the turn, sometimes on the flop) to see two things: the win, and the fun of figuring out what goes where based on stacks.
It could be your first $2.50 1st on ACR/WPN freeroll or 1st in the Sunday Million, as long as it was fun for you, go ahead and share it with me. If I'm still in a tournament with you and I like you more than the other players, the best I am going to hope for you is 2nd. But anything I was never involved in, great, TID! If I WAS in, if you were an ass to me or "Duhamel"d my Matt Affleck to the exit, don't expect me cheering on your rail. But if we're cool, again, go for it and tell me about your win whenever.

I think if you got a big win, it is better not to tell anyone ))

Some people like to share and as others have.mentioned i would rather listen to a win atorybas opposed to my straightnutflushsettwopairaces got cracked by 26o. Ita nice to share a win, but theres a fine line between confidence and arrogance i would say.

I just shake my head because I could care less about people telling me their wins. It's just a game.

I care as long as I keep winning money, otherwise I'm not even listening. When I'm on a downturn that is the last thing I wanna hear about.

I think it depends on how long you've been playing the game. Bad beat stories get old quick. And when you hear about someone's earnings it's hard not to have a feeling of jelousy unless you're doing well youreself. I would say it's best to keep it to yourself even though it's tough to not share it with anyone. But the truth is no one really cares.

I like to hear winning stories. They adds a little extra power to keep going pursuing my goals.

people love telling their stories about what they folded or how they lost....it annoys me because of people always thinikning that their own stuff is more important than other people's stuff due to the fact that they are them and not any of these other people.

I tell them, 'listen. keep your sad stories to yourself please. I got my own sad stories.'

Think this is true for any kind of event played for money. People would rather talk about money won than lost.

I like it if people call me HOW they won. Than im able to enjoy it to.

Come time of year for wsop I'm always browsing through the forum in hopes of finding a rail thread of a member who is playing in an event... and it is great to hear it from them when they do well.

I don't enjoy the badbeat stories... maybe a few here & there if I know the players involved. Even worse though is players whining about other's talking about their wins. Thats kinda like a badsport-badbeat.
