I can't say for sure when "I" would call myself a 'poker addict'. I will try however to dig in the depths of despair and criticize anybody else for things they enjoy or life's shortcomings that had to do with no action of their own circumstances to make my own problems seems less inhibiting. For example, there are usually homeless people standing at the intersections off of the highway when I exit to go play at a favorite room. 'Those people' have all sorts of issues and I blow them up right there in the street after a bad session losing grocery money and or any funds my wife saved for the kids to do things as a family! (thoughts while typing) "Wow, this is easy! So this is how my neighbor can justify the things he says to other neighbors about me playing poker??? How incredibly liberating to pawn off my own faults to others!?! He spends more than he can afford on hunting trips to give the 'feeding the family' excuse to our wives who know how much he spends when the kids go without..... Oops! I'm still new at CC and people may not understand my humor in this so I should include something of value too...." Seriously though, have a throwback for entertainment if it does seem to take too much control in your life. My wife and I have GREAT communication about my playing including amounts both brick and online. We have mutual respect for each other and hold ourselves accountable for family affairs. I understand not everybody has the perfect wife. I am lucky! For those who get nothing but criticism, it is a battle that doesn't help your game if your around the negative jabs about your life. Not just poker either! If though, you are having to find more and more people are worried. Give them the respect of your conversations and open mind. They might just help that lump in your throat to disappear.
