You don't want to think too much into what people say in the chat box. If you begin to involve yourself in an argument it may take away from your game mentally. I personally love playing with peace of mind and no distractions it's much easier to be calm and logical.

Ditto. If your site gives you the option of tourney stats or chat, always go for stats. Nobody seriously playing online pays any attention to chat. And if they curse you out online, it's akin to spitting against the wind, it'll never affect them, might blow back on you.

I come from online gaming. I've grown very thick skin and don't even see online poker chat. IRL though, I can't do. I usually leave if there's a pretty hostile player.

When you are literally "beaten, destroyed" on all sides, the answer is sometimes unpredictable! Emotions via the edge! It's good that I live alone! Sometimes I swear loudly if I lose control! And it's bad for my game. I realized that need to work on yourself, be confident, stay calm in all situations!

Sometimes they get me-sometimes they amuse me and then I have fun and I start trolling them . Especially when they're angry . But if there is a serious game then turn off chat or turn on the music .

Live: I couldn't even start to list the horrible things that have been said to me at tables (dudes, cut it out! Like these guys have mothers who would be so ashamed at them). It used to really tilt me until I talked to an older woman reg at one of my local casinos. She said "girl, if you let this stuff get to you you have no business being here. You're always gonna have a bounty on your head. Just use it to play your best or take a short break and walk around to get it out of your system." So now I am much better at shaking it off because I believe she is right. No reason to let it get to me, that would just be giving them what they want - my chips. Now I smile sweetly, put in some headphones with the volume off, and wait patiently for the perfect time to take their money.

Online: I find it funny. I usually watch those rude players bust out very early and laugh. They are just masking their insecurity like all bullies.

I ignore the players who insult me, I don’t respond to offensive words, they specifically distract you from the game, try to make you make a mistake.

I usually do not use the chat box.
If I see that someone is offending me I ignore, I only respond when it is to provoke and destabilize the adversary.
